Noting that due to the non-availability of slots for the Basic Course in Medical Education Technology (BCMET), many faculty were not getting promoted, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has announced a relaxation on the completion of the course for one year.
Granting this breather, the NMC has permitted promotion to all faculties of PG (MD/MS) and Super Speciality (DM/MCh) Courses without the compulsory completion of the BCMET course. However, the NMC has imposed a rider on this allowance and has mandated that all such faculty availing of this relaxation will have to complete the said course within three years from the date of promotion. Besides, the faculty who have already been promoted earlier on such relaxation will also have to complete the course within three years from the date of promotion.

In an attempt to ensure that all MBBS admissions have been made while adhering to the rules and regulations, the Undergraduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC) recently directed all the medical colleges/institutes to submit the details of the students who got admitted in the MBBS course during the academic year 2021-22.
Writing to the Principals of the medical colleges in the country, the NMC board referred to the Online monitoring system that has been launched for this purpose.

Despite having proper eligibility and competence, experienced SC/STs aspirants "are not allowed to be inducted" as faculty members in AIIMS even at an initial stage, a parliamentary standing committee has alleged in a report.
The standing committee report on the welfare of scheduled castes (SCs) and scheduled tribes (STs) tabled in Lok Sabha said this is happening when out of a total of 1111 faculty positions, there are vacancies of 275 Assistant Professors and 92 Professor at AIIMS.
