NMC approves 100 MBBS seats at Idukki Medical College

Catering to the long pending demand for Idukki Medical College in Kerala's high range district, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has recently given its permission to the medical college for 100 MBBS seats, for which the State Government had been trying for the past few years.

Confirming the news regarding the NMC nod, the State Government has assured that all the required procedures would be completed at the earliest and steps would be taken to begin classes by this year itself, adds PTI.

Doctor, 3 others booked in sex test racket

An illegal sex determination racket has been busted by the health department operating from Dhattarwal Hospital in Hansi following which a criminal case was registered against four women, including a doctor.

The health department also seized two ultrasound machines and other related records from the spot.

Crosspathy allowed in Tamil Nadu, High Court quashes criminal proceedings against Homeopathy doctor 

In a major decision relating to the issue of crosspathy, in particular, the practice of Allopathy by practitioners of Indian Systems of Medicine, the Tamil Nadu High Court recently quashed criminal proceedings against a Homeopathy doctor for practicing Allopathy Medicine.

In doing so, the HC bench comprising of Justice RMT. Teeka Raman laid reference on an order issued by the State Health Department back in 2010, where it had been mentioned that "the institutionally qualified Practitioners of Ayurveda, Sidddha and Unani, who are registered in the Tamil Nadu Board of Indian Medicine, Chennai are eligible to practice in the respective system with Allopathy based on the training and teaching they had in the Course. But they cannot exclusively do the practice in Allopathy Medicine."
