India reports 268 new Covid-19 infections; active cases rise to 3,552
According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare data updated on Thursday, India recorded 268 new coronavirus infections, while the active caseload increased to 3,552
The data further informed that 220.08 crore total Vaccine doses (95.13 cr Second Dose and 22.39 cr Precaution Dose) have been administered so far under Nationwide Vaccination Drive.
"International passengers travelling from China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Singapore and Thailand to India will be mandatorily required to undergo RTPCR tests before their departure from these countries/destinations and upload the COVID negative RTPCR test report on Air Suvidha portal from 1st January 2023. The test should have been conducted within 72 hours of undertaking the journey to India," Health Ministry stated.

19 Eminent Doctors appointed to NMC, its various Boards
19 eminent doctors have been selected as part-time members of the medical advisory council of the National Medical Commission (NMC).
The Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya took part in the appointment process through a draw of lots.
The procedure of appointments is laid down in National Medical Commission (NMC) Act, 2019.
All appointments comprised 10 Part-time Members from State/UT governments, 9 Part-time Members from State Medical Council, fourth Member of each Autonomous Board and One expert for Search Committee.

An effective obesity drug has now been approved for teens
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has recently expanded the eligibility of Novo Nordisk's Wegovy, a medication indicated for the treatment of obesity in children as young as 12.
Wegovy is a prescription medicine indicated for adults with obesity (BMI ≥30) or overweight (excess weight) (BMI ≥27) who also have weight-related medical problems to help them lose weight and keep it off used with a reduced-calorie meal plan and increased physical activity.
