Rajasthan HC to hear PIL on doctors’ strike on Friday

The High Court of Rajasthan will consider a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) tomorrow against the striking doctors in the State, who have boycotted their work as a sign of their protest against the recently passed Right to Health Bill.

Filing the PIL, lawyer Pramod Singh has sought a direction to the State Government for taking strict action against the doctors on strike and to declare Rajasthan Essential Services Maintenance Act (RESMA) for maintaining health services

MBBS student misses exams to appear for ISSF tournament, wins World Cup Medal

Sift Kaur Samra, a first-year MBBS student of Government GGS Medical College, Faridkot on Sunday won her first individual World Cup medal at the ISSF tournament in Bhopal.

With her bronze medal in the women's 50m rifle 3-position, Samra helped India gather altogether seven medals and ensured second place for the country.

Since the dates of the tournament clashed with the schedule of her first-year MBBS exams, Samra has requested the college authorities for holding the separate exams for her and allow her to represent the nation. However, since the college did not agree to her request, Samra had to choose between her studies and sport and she opted for her passion.

NCDRC relief of Rs 4 crore compensation to Mohali Hospital, 4 doctors accused of negligence

Holding that "No Cure is Not a Negligence", the National Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission granted relief to the IVY Hospital, Mohali against compensation of Rs 4 Crore for the alleged act of medical negligence.

The parents of the deceased patient filed a plea before the Consumer Forum in the year 2010, in which it was alleged that the IVY Hospital was not at all equipped to handle head injuries for patients requiring Neuro Surgery and it did not have a separate Neuro department. It was claimed that the patient was put on the ventilator without the consent of the deceased patient's parents.

Essential medicines to get costlier by 12 per cent from 1 April

The pharma industry is going to see the highest ever annual increase in prices of essential medicines as the cost of such drugs including painkillers, anti-infectives, antibiotics are set to rise by more than 12 percent effective April 1, 2023.

A decision in this regard was taken by the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA).

Scared of failing NEET 2023, 19-year-old TN aspirant commit suicide

Scared of failing the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) examination, another Tamil Nadu based 19-year-old NEET aspirant committed suicide by hanging herself to death in a hostel room in Salem.

According to a report by IANS, the student was under pressure as he attempted the exam for the third time and was unsure about clearing it. The student was going to appear for the exam scheduled on May 7 at an exam centre in Salem.
