Union Health Minister suspends 2 CGHS doctors for favouring one Pharma company drugs

Announcing crackdown on the doctor-pharma nexus, the Union Health Ministry has recently suspended two central government health scheme (CGHS) doctors for allegedly prescribing certain medicines in favour of a particular pharmaceutical company.

While one of the two CGHS doctors works at a CGHS dispensary in Shahdara, the other one is employed at Dwarka Sector 9, reports PTI.

Mop left inside patient during Whipple's operation: Consumer Court slaps Rs 5 lakh compensation on NIMS

The State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission in Telangana recently held the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) and its HOD of Department of Surgical Gastroenterology, guilty of medical negligence for allegedly leaving mop inside a patient's abdomen while conducting Pancreatico -Duodenectomy (Whipple's operation) back in 2009.

Although NIMS denied any negligence, the State Commission opined that there was no other way to explain how the Mop was found inside the patient's abdomen two and half years after the first surgery.

15 kg tumour removed from woman's abdomen at Patna hospital

A massive ovarian tumour, weighing about 15 kg, was surgically removed from the abdomen of a woman at a government hospital in Patna, doctors operating upon her said on Saturday.

According to Dr Usha Kumari, a professor of gynaecology and obstetrics at the Nalanda Medical College and Hospital, the patient, aged 40, was admitted earlier this week with complaints of abdominal pain and swelling.

Delhi: New milestone in Covid vaccination drive, but booster needs a shot in arm

India's COVID vaccination drive has created a new milestone with Delhi becoming the country's only city to administer more than 3.5 crore cumulative doses. A total of 3,50,31,791 vaccine doses were administered in Delhi till June 30, including 1,40,56,975 (95%) adult beneficiaries who were fully vaccinated. 

On Friday, 813 fresh cases were reported with a positivity rate of 5.3%, while three more people succumbed to the viral disease.
