Doctors protest against bond policy escalates across the country, Haryana cancels NEET counselling

The MBBS bond policy row in Haryana has created a major uproar amidst the medical fraternity across the country who are observing Black Day in solidarity with the doctors who were manhandled and detained by police for protesting against the bond conditions.

Medical Dialogues had previously reported that as per a circular by the State Government of Haryana, Rs 10 lakh annual bond policy was supposed to remain effective for this academic year as well and the MBBS students were required to pay the amount at the start of every academic year till the completion of the MBBS degree of four and a half years.

UP: KGMU performs first combined liver-kidney transplant

The first combined liver-kidney transplant has been performed at the prestigious King George's Medical University (KGMU) after the family members of a brain-dead 20-year-old patient donated the organs.

The liver, kidneys, and corneas were harvested from a 20-year-old resident of Lonar village in Hardoi.

He was admitted to the KGMU Trauma Centre after a road accident last month and had been on ventilator support. The accident took place on October 24 in Hamirpur. The donor worked as a helper in the transport sector.

State changes name of Dr NTR University of Health Sciences

The recent decision of Andhra Pradesh Government of changing the name of Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences has initiated a major controversy and now Telugu Dasam Party MP Kanakamedala Ravindra Kumar has demanded the intervention of National Medical Commission for retaining the previous name of the university.

Claiming that the State changed the name of the University to Dr. YSR University of Health Sciences without consulting the university alumni or seeking public opinion. He mentioned that this was a political move to "settle" scores and also opined that the change of name was a direct insult to NTR.
