In the last three years, altogether 860 MBBS and 12758 PG Medical Seats remained vacant, the Union Minister of State for Health, Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar informed the Lok Sabha on Friday.

Giving a year-wise break up of vacant medical seats, the MoS Health informed that during the academic year 2019-2020, the total number of vacant UG and PG medical seats were 273 and 4614 respectively.

In the next year, i.e. during the academic year 2021-2022, the number of vacant UG seats increased from 273 to 326 seats. However, the total number of vacant PG medical seats decreased from 4614 seats to 3744 medical seats.

Last year during the academic year 2022-2023, altogether 262 UG medical seats and 4400 PG medical seats went vacant, revealed the Health Ministry data.
