5 arrested in crackdown on illegal sex determination racket in Mysuru
An illegal sex determination and female foeticide racket has been busted in Mysuru district, Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao said on Thursday. Acting on a tip-off, the health department officials, along with the police, raided a farmhouse in Hunaganahalli village, where the illegal activities were being carried out.
The gang operated in Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s Varuna constituency in Mysuru district.
According to health department officials, they received a tip-off about the sex determination tests and foeticide. They raided a farmhouse in the village of Hunaganahalli on Bannur Highway in Varuna and nabbed the culprits on Wednesday evening, news agency PTI reported.
