65-Year-Old NRI doctor falls victim to bank fraud, loses Rs 9.77 lakh

A retired doctor based in Mumbai has fallen victim to a cyber fraud, losing nearly Rs. 9.77 lakh from his bank account without sharing any One-Time Password (OTP) or banking details. The fraud came to light after multiple unauthorized transactions were made from his Non-Resident External (NRE) account.

The 65-year-old complainant, a former doctor who had worked in the United States for several years before settling in India six years ago, resides in Lokhandwala Complex, Andheri. He holds an NRE account with a private bank located in Andheri.
