Renowned Chinese virologist Shi Zhengli, often referred to as the "bat woman" due to her expertise in viruses originating from animals, has issued a warning about the potential emergence of a new coronavirus in the future. Shi, who heads the Centre for Emerging Infectious Diseases at the Wuhan Institute of Virology and has spent over two decades researching coronaviruses, stressed the importance of global preparedness in light of the lessons learned from the deadly COVID-19 pandemic.
