Doctor Duped of Rs 2 Crore by Cyber Fraudsters Impersonating Police Officers

In yet another incident of cybercrime, a doctor from Rayachoti, Annamaiah district, has been swindled out of Rs 2 crore by fraudsters impersonating police officers.

Dr Imtiaz, a physician at Ameen Hospital, became a victim of the scam after receiving a call five months ago from a number that displayed a police officer's photo.

The scammers informed him that a drug parcel had been sent in his name from London and that a case had been filed against him. They threatened imminent arrest and claimed that their investigation had uncovered a drug mafia plotting to kill him, further intensifying the doctor's fear.
