Health Ministry dismisses study alleging 11.9 lakh excess COVID deaths

The Union Health Ministry on Saturday dismissed the findings published in the academic journal Science Advances, which claimed that India has reported 11.9 lakh excess deaths during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. The Ministry claims that the study was based on untenable and unacceptable estimates.
Some media reports have highlighted the findings from a paper published on life expectancy during the COVID-19 pandemic in India in 2020.
