Researchers from prestigious research institutions in the city have jointly created placenta-on-a-chip devices, which mimic the functions of the human placenta. These innovative devices have the potential to advance our understanding of pregnancy-related complications, such as preeclampsia and gestational diabetes.
The collaborative effort involves scientists from IIT Bombay and the Indian Council of Medical Research's National Institute for Research in Reproductive and Child Health (NIRRCH) in Parel.
