Sale of 17 Food Products, Including Ghee and Turmeric, Suspended for Two Months Over Safety Concerns

In a major crackdown, Rajasthan’s Food Safety Wing under the Medical and Health Department has banned the sale and display of 17 food products across the state after they were found unsafe during testing. According to officials, samples collected during inspections in April 2026 failed laboratory standards, prompting a two-month prohibition. The affected items include ghee, tea, turmeric, roasted gram, savoury snacks, and confectionery products. Authorities have directed strict compliance, warning that violations will invite legal action under food safety laws.

The action also extends beyond the state, with authorities informing food safety departments in other regions where the products were manufactured. Several ghee brands and packaged items from multiple companies have been flagged in the drive. Officials said the move aims to protect public health and ensure quality standards in the food supply chain. The department has intensified inspections and surveillance, signalling stricter enforcement against unsafe and substandard food products in the market.
