SGPGIMS held guilty for faulty treatment of Late Padma Shri Awardee, slapped Rs 39 lakh compensation
The State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (SCDRC), Uttar Pradesh, has directed the Lucknow-based Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) to pay Rs 39 lakh compensation for "negligence and faulty treatment" of the eminent artist and Padma Shri awardee Prof Ranbir Singh Bisht, who died around 24 years ago.
While considering the complaint by the daughter of the late Padma Shri awardee, the State Consumer Court of Uttar Pradesh has directed SGPGIMS to pay Rs 19 lakh, with interest at a rate of 10 per cent from September 25, 1998, as compensation for negligence and deficiency of service to the complainant.
