Demanding action against the real culprits responsible for the deaths of several children due to kidney failure after consuming contaminated cough syrup, around 8,500 government doctors across Madhya Pradesh staged a protest against what they called the "illegal arrest" of Dr Praveen Soni, a paediatrician who prescribed the syrup.

The doctors expressed their dissent by wearing black ribbons while on duty. Despite the protest, they carried it out peacefully without disrupting their regular work on Friday.
