Periodontitis a serious risk factor for rheumatoid arthritis 

Periodontitis is an extremely painful gum infection that can lead to tooth loss and other serious health complications. It damages the soft tissue and, without treatment, can destroy the bone that supports teeth. Previous studies have shown, various systemic diseases such as diabetes, obesity, metabolic syndrome, cognitive impairment, and rheumatoid arthritis were shown to be associated with periodontitis. A study in International Dental Journal has recently reported that people with periodontitisis now more likely to develop in patients rheumatoid arthritis.

Zinc deficiency, a greater risk of mortality in Hemodialysis patients

Zinc deficiency is a serious concern as it affects immune system and in relation with this, a study in Journal of Renal Nutrition aimed to analyze the relationship between zinc intake and mortality in hemodialysis patients.

A higher mortality risk was observed in patients with zinc intake below the recommended values. In conclusion there is a high prevalence of hemodialysis patients with an inadequate zinc intake, which is related to worse nutritional and body composition parameters and with a higher mortality risk.

Certain salivary cytokines were positively associated with Oral lichen planus severity, therefore, they might have potential as biomarkers in the diagnosis and prognosis of Oral lichen planus.

Study assessed an estimation of the effect on life expectancy (LE) of a range of dietary changes and has shown health benefits associated with separate food group or specific diet patterns.

According to a new study published in Diabetologia, Insulin-resistant volunteers' postprandial substrate processing, energy expenditure, and thermoregulation are all affected by the indoor light environment in a time-dependent manner.However, further Optimization of indoor lighting to a brighter light during daytime hours and dimmer in the evening may provide cardiometabolic benefits.
