HC stays Regulatory Commission's order of Rs 45 lakh penalty on Varsity, Medical College

In a major turn of events, the High Court of Himachal Pradesh has stayed the June 9 order by the Himachal Pradesh Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Commission (HPPERC) by which the Maharishi Markandeshwar University and Markandeshwar Medical College and Hospital were directed to pay Rs 45 lakh as penalty and refund around Rs 103.96 crore that they had charged as an excess fee from MBBS students studying at the medical college from the academic years 2012 to 2020

The order was expected to bring huge relief to all such MBBS students.
