Minimally invasive radical trachelectomy not a good alternative for open radical trachelectomy?
Invasive surgical have been replaced by minimally invasive procedures but complications remain. Early-stage cervical cancer generally produces no signs or symptoms. Worldwide, cervical cancer is the fourth most frequent cancer in women with an estimated 604 000 new cases in 2020. In India alone, cervical cancer contributes to approximately 6–29% of all cancers in women.
Early stage cervical cancer is said to be curable by various methods, Minimally invasive radical trachelectomy has emerged as an alternative to open radical hysterectomy for patients with early-stage cervical cancer desiring future fertility. Recent data suggest worse oncologic outcomes after minimally invasive radical hysterectomy than after open radical hysterectomy in stage I cervical cancer.
