64-year-old kidney transplant patient, Gautam Tayal, got a second chance in life when he received a hand transplant surgery at Amrita Hospital, Faridabad in December 2023 which marked the first incidence of hand transplantation in north India.

It was also the first time in the country when a hand transplantation had been carried out on a patient who had previously undergone kidney transplantation. This landmark procedure, only the second of its kind globally, is not just a triumph for medical science but a testament to human resilience and generosity. The case was managed extremely well with tremendous efficiency and expertise of Dr Mohit Sharma and his team.
