There was a significant case at AIIMS Delhi recently where a 38-year-old laborer from Raipur, who suffered an accidental hand amputation while operating a wood cutter machine, was given a new lease on life through a complex replantation procedure conducted by a dedicated team of surgeons.
The patient's family played a crucial role in this life-saving endeavor by promptly collecting the amputated hand and preserving it in ice packs. Within just 90 minutes of the accident, they rushed the patient to AIIMS for urgent medical attention.
