Ministry of Health Approves DM, MCh courses in 15 medical colleges: Check out details

New Delhi: Through a recent public notice, the Ministry of Health And Family Welfare has announced the issuance of Letter of Permission to 15 Medical Colleges across the country for starting/increase of seats in Super-Speciality Courses ( DM/M.Ch) for the academic session 2018-19. With the move, 43 Super-speciality seats across various DM/ MCh courses will be added in 15 medical colleges 
 This came after the Medical Council of India recommended to Central Government to issue Letter of Permission (LoP) for PG (Super Specialty) Courses for the year 2018-19. Following are the details:-

The Ministry will issue necessary letters calling for documents etc. shortly and the letters will also be uploaded on the website of the ministry.

The Colleges whose Schemes have been approved are required to furnish the following documents/undertaking for getting the Letter of Permission (LoP) from the Central Government:-

  • The applicant shall provide all infrastructural facilities in terms of teaching and non-teaching staff, buildings, equipment and hospital facilities as per Medical Council of India norms.

  • No student shall be admitted in the above course till the formal permission of the Central Govt. is granted.

  • The Private Medical College should provide Bank Guarantee of required amount (wherever applicable) in favour of Medical Council of India, New Delhi valid for three years from a nationalized/ scheduled Bank as per MCI's norms. However, medical colleges/ institutions governed by the State Govt. are required to furnish only an undertaking to provide funds in their budget till the facilities are fully provided as per time bound programme indicated by them.


The Medical Colleges /institutions will provide undertaking to implement the decision regarding payment of stipend to the PG students similar to PG students of Govt. Medical colleges in their State.

The applicant colleges are therefore advised to be ready with necessary documents so that the same can be sent to the Ministry on receiving the letter for such documents. The last date for issuing LoP is 31.05.2018. In case of any difficulty, applicant organizations may communicate at dvkrao@nic. in & sushil .bading79@nic. in .
