Mumbai: Honorable Chief Minister Devendra Fadanavis inaugurated a new Emergency Medical Services (EMS) department at Bhatia Hospital in Tardeo.

The advanced unit has been developed by the hospital through funding by the KD Jalan Foundation. The EMS department boasts of state-of-art facilities, is centrally air-conditioned and has a strong infrastructure consisting of beds which are monitored for various essential parameters including ECG, respiratory rate, BP, O2 saturation etc.

With a central supply of medical gases, the services in the department are in close proximity to diagnostic facilities in the hospital like MRI, CT, RadiologyImaging-X-Ray, Ultrasound, 2 D Echo, Endoscopy etc making it easy to promptly investigate patients.

Patients can also be seamlessly transported to the OT or ICU for further treatment. The EMS is geared to handle all types of medical emergencies like trauma, mass disasters, poisoning, heart attacks, strokes, etc. It will be manned at all times by specialised doctors and trained nurses and treatment protocols will be standardised at par with NABH/ JCI standards.

The department is also well equipped with ventilators, BIPAPs, Crash carts with Defibrillators, Stretcher beds etc. Said Dr. Rajeev Boudhankar, CEO, Bhatia Hospital, "The EMS will be beneficial to residents of South Mumbai as well as those from Central Mumbai since Bhatia Hospital is accessible from almost all sides.
