National Ayush Mission to set up new hospitals

Under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of National Ayush Mission (NAM), the state/UT governments are now required to submit a proposal to set up new integrated hospitals in their respective territories. Under the joint effort, there is a provision of setting up 50-bedded integrated AYUSH hospitals in each state/UT.

The total budget set aside for the 50 bedded integrated AYUSH Hospitals during 2014-15 and 2015-16 is Rs 531 lakhs.

The total number of existing AYUSH hospitals in the country reported by the state/UT’s as on 1-4-2014 is 3575 out of which 2814 are Ayurveda hospitals , 264 are Sidha , 252 are Unani and 203 are homeopathy while 34 are naturopathy.
