With many recent changes being announced with respect to NEET PG for the coming term, questions are arising in the minds of student regarding the exam. Recently, National Board of Examinations announced that NEET PG 2018 would be a single session exam, as well as announced that Aadhar would be mandatory for the exam.

Medical Dialogues team interviewed Dr Abhijath Sheth, President National Board of Examinations, who has answered the following questions on NEET PG 2018. Read Further:-

Q1. Sir, Who shall conduct the NEET-PG 2018? Which agency has replaced Prometric?

NBE shall be conducting NEET-PG 2018.  NBE is in process of finalizing the agency that will provide technical platform for conducting NEET-PG 2018.

Q2. How many test centres have been engaged for NEET-PG?

NEET- PG shall be conducted in more than 100 cities across the country.

Q3. What is the scheme of NEET-PG? (number of question, computer based, marking scheme etc.)

NEET-PG shall be conducted on a computer based platform. The total number of question in the exam will be 300.  The blue print for the question paper shall be same as that for NEET-PG 2017
. The exam will be conducted on a single day in single session.  There will not be any equating or scaling.

Q4. What is the scope of NEET-PG? (what states and institutes are covered by NEET)

NEET-PG 2018 shall be a single eligibility cum entrance examination for admission to Postgraduate Medical Courses’ for the academic session 2018 which will include the following:

  1. All India 50% quota seats for MD/MS/PG Diploma courses (all states except Andhra Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir and Telangana)

  2. State quota seats for MD/MS/PG Diploma courses for all States/Union territories of India (including the states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana & Jammu & Kashmir)

  3. MD/MS/PG Diploma courses at all Private Medical Colleges, Institutions & Universities/Deemed Universities all across the country

  4. MD/MS/PG Diploma courses at Armed Forces Medical Services Institutions.

  5. DNB Broad specialty courses (January 2018 Admission Session)


Q5 What is the official website for NEET-PG?

The official website for NEET-PG is www.nbe.edu.in

Q6. What are the important dates for NEET-PG? ( application deadline, date of exam, etc.)

  1. Date of Examination NEET 2018- 7th January, 2018

  2. Date of Result announcement for NEET 2018- by 31st January, 2018

Q7 What is the candidate support for NEET-PG?

There shall be dedicated contact centre to resolve the queries of the candidates.  E-mail support shall also be provided to the candidates.

Q8. Which all institutions are exempted from National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-PG?

The following institutes are exempted from NEET-PG:

  1. AIIMS, New Delhi

  2. PGIMER, Chandigarh

  3. JIPMER, Puducherry

  4. NIMHANS, Bengaluru

  5. Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Trivandrum


Q9. What about Counseling for MD/MS/PG Diploma seats? Who will conduct the counseling?

NBE shall prepare the final results and the ranking of the candidates. All India Ranking details shall be sent to DGHS and state wise ranking details shall be sent to respective state governments for counselling. NBE has no role in conduct of counseling for MD/MS/PG Diploma courses.  Stakeholders can refer gazette notification dated 31

Q10. What is the subject wise distribution of questions for NEET PG 2018?

The subject wise distribution of questions for NEET-PG is as per the blue print given in the Information Bulletin for NEET-PG 2017.

Q11. Negative Marking in NEET PG?

The scheme of award of marks is as follows:

Q12. What is your advice for the Aspiring Candidates?

My advice to the aspiring candidates is to prepare for NEET PG 2018 examination with the confidence and focus on reading their textbooks. The NBE will strengthen examination process to ensure smooth and secure conduct of NEET PG 2018 examination.
