49,907 MD, MS, PG Diploma seats available for NEET PG 2025 counselling- NMC seat matrix released
New Delhi: Altogether 49,907 postgraduate medical seats across 68 specialities are available, revealed the seat matrix for the National Eligibility-Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2025 counselling, recently released by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
The updated NEET PG seat matrix has been notified by the Gujarat Admission Committee for Professional Post Graduate Medical Courses (ACPPGMEC) on its official website.
NMC in the seat matrix provided the State/UT-wise breakup of PG medical seats in altogether 68 MD, MS, and PG Diploma Courses. The speciality-wise breakup of the seat matrix is as follows:
MD Courses:
According to the list, the highest number of MD seats is in General Medicine with a total of 5469 medical seats available. Apart from this, MD Anaesthesiology has 4947 PG medical seats, MD Paediatrics has 3527 seats, MD Pathology has 2916 seats, MD Radio Diagnosis has 2659 seats.
Further, 1219 seats are available in MD Anatomy, 1111 seats in MD Biochemistry, 1801 seats in MD Social & Preventive Medicine/Community Medicine, 1455 seats in MD-Dermatology, Venereology & Leprosy, 1590 seats in MD Microbiology, 1315 seats in MD Pharmacology, 1200 seats in MD Physiology, 1312 seats are available in MD Psychiatry, 1051 seats are available in MD TB Respiratory Diseases and 725 seats in MD Forensic Medicine.
Considerably lesser number of seats are available in specialties, including MD Emergency Medicine (3 seats), MD Master of Public Health- Epidemiology (7 seats), MD- Aviation Medicine/Aerospace Medicine (10 seats), MD Bio Physics (1 seat), MD Community Health Administration (10 seats), MD Family Medicine (20 seats), MD Geriatric (56 seats), MD Hospital Administration (44 seats), MD- IHTM/ITBT (5 seats), MD Interventional Radiology (1 seat), MD Laboratory Medicine (1 seat), MD Laboratory Medicine (5 seats), MD Nuclear Medicine (26 seats), MD Opthalmology (8 seats), MD Palliative Medicine (21 seats), MD Nuclear Medicine (26 seats), MD Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (91 seats), MD Pulmonary Medicine (35 seats), MD Radiation Oncology (104 seats), MD Immuno Haematology & Blood Transfusion (160 seats), MD Emergency Medicine (497 seats), MD Radiotherapy (374 seats), MD Sports Medicine (21 seats), MD Transfusion Medicine (13 seats), and MD Tropical Medicine (11 seats).
MD Seats:
Regarding the MS PG seats, the seat matrix revealed that 1629 seats are available in MD Otorhinolaryngology, 4915 seats are available in MS General Surgery, 4060 seats are available in MS Obstetrics & Gynaecology, 2057 seats are available in MS Ophthalmology, 3027 seats are available in MS Orthopaedics, 2 seats are available in MS-Post MBBS Diploma Courses in OBG-DGO, and 8 seats are available in MS Traumatology and Surgery.

With respect to the PG Diploma courses, the data revealed that 11 seats are available in Otorhinolaryngology, 1 seat in Forensic Medicine & Toxicology, 2 seats in Marine Medicine, 6 seats in Sports Medicine, 93 seats in Anaesthesia, 33 seats in Child Health, 22 seats in Clinical Pathology, 1 seat in Community Medicine, 15 seats in Dermatology, 3 seats in Diabetology, 20 seats in Health Education, 6 seats in Health Administration, 8 seats in Hospital Administration, 2 seats in Immuno-Haematology and Blood Transfusion, 3 seats in Medicine Radiotherapy, 52 seats are available Obstetrics & Gynaecology, 53 seats are available in Ophthalmology, 20 seats are available in Orthopaedics, 6 seats are available in Psychological Medicine, 11 seats are available in Public Health, 4 seats are available in Radiation Medicine (Nuclear Mecicine), 12 seats are available for admission in Radio-Diagnosis, and 5 seats are available in Tuberculosis & Chest Diseases.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved 2,337 new postgraduate medical seats for the NEET PG 2025 counselling.
The highest number of new PG medical seats has been granted in Karnataka, where NMC has approved 422 additional PG medical seats. More than 200 new PG seats have been granted in two states- Gujarat (247) and Uttar Pradesh (233).
