New Delhi: Expressing concern over alleged repeated administrative and technical failures affecting NEET PG 2026 counselling, a doctors' body has demanded immediate action in this regard from the Union Health Ministry, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), and the National Medical Commission (NMC),

This comes after the United Doctors Front (UDF) received multiple complaints from candidates regarding the newly introduced Freeze/Float system. "Despite MCC guidelines providing for online document verification for FLOAT candidates, several institutional nodal officers are asking students to physically report to their allotted colleges. Some candidates have even had to explain the new rules to the officials responsible for implementing them," the association said in a release on 26.10.2026.

Allegedly, when the candidates tried to reach out to MCC regarding their issues through an email address displayed in their counselling login dashboard, it returned the error “The recipient’s inbox is out of storage space.”

Expressing concern over repeated administrative and technical failures affecting NEET PG 2026 counselling, UDF has questioned how a national-level process determining the careers of thousands of doctors continues to face avoidable problems without adequate corrective action.

Highlighting the issue, the association has urged the Health Ministry, DGHS, MCC and NMC to immediately issue uniform written instructions to all participating institutions and ensure proper training of nodal officers regarding the revised Freeze/Float procedures, restore all non-functional grievance email addresses, remove outdated contact details from official portals and set up a monitored, time-bound complaint resolution mechanism.

Further, the association has demanded the conduct of an independent technical and administrative review of the counselling portal disruptions, result publication discrepancies and failures in institutional coordination.

Commenting on the matter, Dr. Lakshya Mittal, the National Chairperson of UDF, said, "How can MCC introduce new counselling rules without ensuring that the officials responsible for implementing them are properly informed? Students are being forced to explain official guidelines to nodal officers themselves. This is a clear failure of coordination and administrative preparedness. Before implementing any new policy, MCC must ensure proper training, clear communication and uniform compliance across all participating institutions. The responsibility cannot be shifted onto students who are already under immense pressure during counselling."

According to the association, there was no proper redressal system as well.

"MCC’s published Information Bulletin lists a different counselling email address. If the Gmail address is no longer intended for use, why is it still being displayed to candidates? If it remains operationally relevant, why are emails being rejected? This is not an isolated concern. UDF had previously highlighted that official email addresses of the National Medical Commission’s Post-Graduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB) were returning mailbox-full errors, with evidence dating back to January 2025. The matter was formally escalated to NMC authorities in September 2026, yet concerns regarding the functioning of these communication channels remain unresolved," UDF added.

Dr. Rakesh Beniwal, Joint Secretary, United Doctors Front, said, "We have documentary evidence that official PGMEB email addresses were unable to receive complaints as far back as January 2025. UDF formally brought this matter to the attention of NMC authorities in September 2026, yet the problem has remained unresolved. Now, candidates are encountering similar mailbox-full errors with an email address displayed on the MCC counselling portal. These are not minor technical inconveniences. These are official grievance channels through which doctors and medical students seek help regarding their careers, training and regulatory issues. If even an email cannot reach the concerned authority, how can we expect grievances to be addressed? How many important complaints may have gone unanswered simply because the designated mailboxes were full? Authorities must explain why such basic communication failures are allowed to persist despite repeated complaints."

The association said that the ongoing counselling process has already witnessed complaints of website access failures during choice filling, followed by the withdrawal and replacement of the Round 1 provisional allotment PDF on 23 October 2026.

"Although MCC described the replacement as a correction of printing errors without changes to the underlying allotment result, discrepancies in a national-level counselling document demand a transparent explanation and stronger verification mechanisms," it added.

The association has questioned why basic checks, technical preparedness and effective communication continue to fall short in such a high-stakes process.
