Beware of Fake Representatives guaranteeing MBBS admissions: NTA issues warning, approaches police

New Delhi: Concerned with the menace of fake agents posing as representatives of National Testing Agency (NTA) giving false assurance to arrange admission in medical colleges through unfair means, the agency has issued an alert for all the MBBS aspirants.

The alert is in pursuance of the complaint received by the NTA  that some unscrupulous elements are claiming that they can arrange the admission in a desired medical college by manipulating the OMR sheet of the Candidate of NEET. There could be many more such unscrupulous elements who might be contacting the candidates of NEET (UG), posing as NTA Staff/Representative(s) with false assurance to arrange admission in Medical Colleges through unfair means. There are some media/ social media reports also about the same.

In this background, the NTA clarified:

NTA does not have access to the phone number or email of the candidates. Hence, the question of association of the officials of NTA with any such unscrupulous elements or their engagement in any such activity does not arise. No communication is/ can be done by the NTA regarding anyone's result/ rank at this point of time. Further, any communication about score card/ rank/ etc. of the candidates will be done through the official websites ( www.nta.ac.in and ntaneet.ac.in ) only.

It is also clarified that NTA's role is limited to inviting online application for NEET (UG) - 2020, conducting the entrance test, declaring the result, and providing All India Rank to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India. The NTA has no role in the process for admission to any Medical College in the country or abroad.

The admission to Medical Colleges takes place on the basis of the ranks obtained by the candidates and counselling conducted by the DGHS for the Seats under 15% All India Quota Central Universities and the State Counselling Authorities (Directorates of Medical Education of respective States/UTs), and not based upon any forged OMR Sheet or Score Card of any candidate.

Further, the agency informed about the action taken by it in the matter and said that NTA, on its part, has also lodged a serious complaint with the local police

Therefore, candidates/parents are advised not to be misled and should rather register a formal complaint with the local police against such unscrupulous elements and immediately inform to NTA (grivance@nta.ac.in) also, if and when approached by anyone for facilitating admission through unfair means.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has been established by Ministry of Education (earlier known as MHRD), Government of India (GOY) as an independent/autonomous and self-sustained premier testing organization for conducting efficient, transparent and international standards tests in order to assess the competency of candidates for admissions to premier higher education institutions. The NTA has been conducting the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate), NEET (UG) since 2019 on the directions of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India, with the approval of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Ministry of Education, Government of India.
