Mumbai: PG Dental student accuses HOD of Sexual harassment, Probe launched
Mumbai: A final-year PG student of the Government Dental College near CSMT has made sexual allegations against the head of the department that has shaken the college as well as the students.
A student claimed that the HOD of the college had been harassing her sexually and asked for sexual favours from her. She further explained the matter to Dean Dr Dimple Padawe through a letter.
As soon as the college dean learned about the incident, she assured the creation of a committee to probe into the matter.

Based on the allegation, a committee comprising the dean, a head of the department, an official from the administration department, a lawyer and a social worker has been formed.
The college had decided to keep the student on leave until the matter is resolved. A friend of that student confirmed that she had gone to her parent's house.
Dr Padawe told Mid-day "It is a sensitive matter and we will investigate accordingly. The HOD is on vacation right now. We are waiting for him to come back to initiate the inquiry. We have also informed our superiors about the complaint."

The Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER). Dr Vivek Pakhmode, joint director of Dental DMER heard about the matter and refused to comment on the situation as the topic is a sensitive matter and needs time to be discussed after solid evidence. He said, "The committee will investigate and take further steps."
The HOD is presently refusing calls to comment on the situation and has been put on leave as well.
