DNB Post MBBS, Post Diploma 2020: NBE extends last date for Physical Joining of Final Mop-up Round

New Delhi: Through a recent notice, the National Board of Examinations (NBE) has informed about the extension of the last date for Physical Joining in respect of the Final (Mop-up) Round online counseling for admission to DNB (Post MBBS and Post Diploma) courses for the 2020 admission session. 

Due to the current situation regarding COVID19 Pandemic, the last date for Physical Joining for seats allotted in the Final (Mop-up) Round of DNB (Post MBBS and Post Diploma) counseling has been extended from 15th September 2020 to 30th September 2020 (1600 hrs.)

Candidates are advised to join their DNB training at the allotted institute on or before 30.09.2020. No relaxation in the physical joining shall be permissible beyond 30.09.2020(1600hrs).

Earlier, the NBE had notified about the refund process of the First-year course fee to the candidates who participated in the Final (Mop-up) Round of DNB (Post MBBS/Post Diploma) counseling but no seat was allotted to them.

All the concerned candidates who have not been allotted any seat in the Final (Mop-up) round of DNB counseling for 2020 admission session, were informed by the NBE:

NBE shall refund the First-year course fee to the candidates who participated in the Final (Mop-up) Round of DNB (Post MBBS/Post Diploma) Counseling but no seat was allotted to them.

The refund process shall be initiated after 15.09.2020. The refund shall be made in the same account from where the course fee was deposited to NBE by the candidate.

The National Board of Examinations was established in 1975 with the prime objective of improving the quality of the Medical Education by elevating the level and establishing standards of postgraduate examinations in modern medicine on an all India basis. There are more than 149 recognized Medical Colleges in the country. In addition to Postgraduate teaching institutions under MCI, there are 450 accredited institutions imparting training in various Broad and Super specialties for the award of a postgraduate qualification in Broad and super specialties. The Board at present conducts postgraduate and postdoctoral examinations in 54 disciplines approved by the Board for the award of Diplomate of National Board. The Medical Council of India has laid down standards for postgraduate examinations conducted by various medical colleges and affiliated to concerned universities and other institutions, yet the levels of proficiency and standards of evaluation vary considerably in these institutions. The setting up of a National Body to conduct postgraduate medical examination was intended to provide a common standard and mechanism of evaluation of minimum level of attainment of the objective for which post graduate courses were started in medical institutions. Moreover, intra country and international comparison is facilitated with the availability of commonly accepted evaluation mechanism.
