Doctors' body urges RUHS to expedite MD, MS final year results, cites SR counselling uncertainty
New Delhi: Concerned over delays in Senior Residency (SR) counselling, appointments, and fulfilment of government bond obligations, a doctors' body has written to the Rajasthan University of Health Sciences (RUHS), Jaipur, to expedite the declaration of MD/MS Final Year Examination Results 2026 for the 2023 batch.
Submitting a representation to the university authorities on November 4, 2026, the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) highlighted that the postgraduate residents have been waiting for their final-year examination results, with no definite timeline for their declaration communicated by the university.

As per the examination schedule, the MD/MS theory examinations were conducted from September 14 to September 23, 2026, while the practical examinations were held between October 7 and October 28, 2026. The postgraduate tenure of the batch commenced from September 4, 2026 onwards.
The association pointed out that the continued delay has caused considerable uncertainty and hardship among postgraduate residents, particularly concerning their subsequent Senior Residency (SR) counselling, appointment and fulfilment of applicable State Government bond obligations.
Further, FAIMA stated, "The declaration of final examination results is an essential prerequisite for determining eligibility, initiating counselling, completing appointment formalities and ensuring timely joining of qualified postgraduate doctors in Government Medical Colleges. Any further delay may consequently result in loss of valuable professional opportunities, postponement of mandatory government service, delayed commencement of salary and avoidable financial hardship... Timely completion of the result declaration process is therefore important not only for the professional progression of resident doctors but also for maintaining adequate specialist manpower and uninterrupted patient care services."
While acknowledging the academic autonomy of the university and the need for proper evaluation and verification, FAIMA stated that these procedures should be completed within a reasonable timeframe. It also referred to the principles of administrative fairness, transparency and non-arbitrariness under Article 14 of the Constitution.
In light of this, FAIMA requested the university authorities to expedite all pending evaluation, tabulation, verification and approval formalities and declare the MD/MS Final Year Examination Results 2026 (Batch 2023) at the earliest.
It has also urged the university to communicate a definite timeline for the declaration of results through official channels and ensure uniform and timely results across all MD/MS specialities, wherever administratively feasible.
Further, FAIMA has sought an explanation for any unavoidable delay and the expected timeline for completing the pending procedures. The association has also requested RUHS to coordinate with the Medical Education Department of Rajasthan to facilitate timely Senior Residency counselling, appointments and joining formalities.
Additionally, FAIMA has urged the university and the concerned State Government authorities to ensure that eligible candidates do not suffer any loss of service period, employment opportunity, or financial benefits under the applicable bond policy solely due to delays in university result declaration.
"We respectfully submit that postgraduate residents who have completed their prescribed training and appeared for their final examinations should not be subjected to avoidable professional or financial hardship due to administrative delays beyond their control. We therefore request your kind intervention and urge the University to treat this matter as urgent and time-sensitive. We would also appreciate an official communication regarding the present status and anticipated date of result declaration. FAIMA remains committed to constructive engagement with academic institutions and government authorities to safeguard the legitimate interests of resident doctors and strengthen the healthcare delivery system," the association added in the representation.
