Faridkot: The medical students in Punjab are in a dilemma as the MBBS fee structures of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) and Adesh Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (AIMSR) have shown a huge disparity of around Rs 13 lakh.

When on one hand, BFUHS along with the Department of Medical Education and Research (DMER) has announced total fees for the MBBS course as Rs 50.47 lakh, the prospectus of AIMSR, on the other hand, has mentioned the fees to be Rs 63.93 lakh.

The institute had proposed the fee for first-year MBBS course at Rs 11,90,000. However, the State in its notification dated 22.09.2021 had the reduced the fees to Rs 9,45,000 for the first year and for the other years also.

Medical Dialogues had also reported recently that the BFUHS while informing candidates about the fee structures for MBBS and BDS courses, had mentioned in the notification dated 22.09.2021 that in case of Private Institute Adesh Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Bathinda, the 1st year fee is Rs 945,000 for Government and Management quota seats with 10% increase in subsequent years. So, as per the Government notification, there is no difference in fees between the management quota institutes of BFUHS and AIMSR.

So the total fee for the MBBS course, as mentioned in the prospectus of the institute is Rs 63,93,930.

Even though the institute had challenged the order and the fee structure mentioned in the Government notification, the same was not decided even though the dates for processing of fee and allotment were due to be done between 25.01.2022 to 29.01.2022.

Meanwhile, the counsel for the Institute, in a form of interim prayer has mentioned that the students who have taken admission in both Graduate and Post Graduate courses should be notified about the matter.
