I am leaving home, will be gone for five years: NEET Aspirant goes missing after giving exam

Jaipur: Having no desire to continue medical studies anymore, a 19-year-old aspirant from Rajasthan has allegedly run away from home with Rs 8,000 in his possession a day after taking the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) examination. He had conveyed his wish to be away for five years. His worried Parents have filed missing complaint. 

Sending his message to his parents, the aspirant had gone missing from Kota on May 6 with a promise to call his family once a year and assure them not to worry about him as he would not take any extreme steps in life.

"I am leaving home and I do not wish to study further. I have ₹ 8,000 with me and will be gone for five years. I will sell my mobile phone and break the SIM card. Please tell mother not to worry about me. I will not take any wrong steps. I have everyone's numbers with me. If needed, I will call. I will definitely call once a year," read his message.

According to the police, the aspirant was spotted leaving his paying guest accommodation in Kota at 1.30 pm after staying a night at his aunt's house. Taking the NEET exam on May 5, he went to his aunt's house in Kota to spend the night. While leaving on Monday morning, he told his aunt that he would directly go to the station and take a train to his village.

Before going missing, he sent a message from his phone to his parents expressing his wish that he didn't want to continue his studies further and would sell his phone and break the sim. When the family members noticed the message, they tried to reach him but his phone was switched off from 12:30 onwards on May 6.

Following this, the family members began searching for him but to no avail and filed a missing complaint at the police station. 

As per TNIE reports, the aspirant had previously tried the exam two years ago but did not pass. He had lived in PG accommodation in Kota for three years and was set to take the NEET exam on May 5th and spoke with his family before disappearing the next day. His parents told the police that everything seemed fine during their conversation, but he vanished mysteriously the next day leaving a message.

Till now, the student has not been traced. The police have managed to gather the CCTV footage of the student travelling somewhere but not sure about the location. They are checking CCTV footage of the local areas and railway station as well. Further investigation is underway.
