ICMR invites Application For MSc Dissertation Program

Delhi: The Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) has invited applications for dissertation training for up to 6 months for students who are pursuing post-graduate studies [MSc (all branches of Life Sciences, including Bioinformatics)] in Universities/Institutes for whom training is a part of their degree programme (i.e. mandatory) for National Institute of Pathology.

All applications should be submitted through google form with full bio-data and a recommendation from the Principal/Head of the Department/University. The eligible candidates, after initial screening and personal discussion at ICMR-NIOP, New Delhi, will be provided laboratory placement, subject to the availability of positions in each laboratory. The last date of application for six-month training is 22nd December 2023 up to 05.00 p.m. The link to the Google form is enclosed in the notice below.

Applications sent by hard copies or by emails to individual scientists/directors will not be considered.

The total positions of trainees are 19 (Nineteen). Students enrolled in different Master’s degree programs at any recognized University can apply. The session will start from 1st January 2024.

In view of the large number of applications being received, the selection is on the basis of merit and personal discussion. All the students who have applied through the proper channel will be intimated by email, and information will also be available on the Institute’s website.

ICMR has further announced that the training period is from January 2024 to June 2024. Reservation will be provided as per rules laid by the Government of India. The decision of the Training Committee and the Director of the Institute shall be final, and no communication in this regard shall be entertained.

Work done during training shall be treated as the Institute's Research. The candidate carrying out the training and their parent institution does not have any right to use the generated data for any objective other than the dissertation report of the candidate.

Course Fee, Laboratory & Other Facilities –

A one-time course fee of Rs. 20,000.00 (for six months of training) in the form of a Demand Draft in favour of "Director, National Institute of Pathology" payable at ‘New Delhi’ is to be paid after receiving the permission letter for induction into the program.

General Guidelines-

At present, there is no housing/hostel facility at ICMR-NIOP to host the students. Selected students have to make their own arrangements for accommodation. No TA/DA will be paid to the short-listed candidates for attending personal discussions at ICMR-NIOP. No stipend of any nature will be paid to students inducted into the MSc. Dissertation program at ICMR-NIOP.
