ICMR National Institute of Virology invites applications for PhD Program 2022-23, Check out all details

New Delhi: The application window for PhD Program 2022-23 has been opened by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) National Institute of Virology. The last date to apply is 9th September 2022.

The application can be sent by filling out the Google form. The applicants can click on the link https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdu2CUavdgllp7DvkR1OPh1llM9RCSQvaDnT1cr1 WBvWnbuoQ/viewform?usp=sf_link for the Google form. They must copy and paste this link into the browser and fill out the form. Incomplete applications and applications received after the closing date will not be entertained.

Eligibility Criteria –

1. The applicants must be bonafide Indian citizens with consistently good academic records.

2. Students with a postgraduate degree (as per UGC Minimum Standards and Procedures for Award of M. Phil and PhD Degrees Regulations, 2016) and having a valid fellowship from UGC /CSIR/ DBT/ ICMR/ DST-INSPIRE/ BINC/ Teacher fellowship are eligible to apply.

3. The candidate should have a Postgraduate degree in any branch of Life Sciences/ Biotechnology/ Bioinformatics/Health Sciences with at least 55% or equivalent Grade Point Average (GPA). Students belonging to the reserved category will be eligible for 5% relaxation.

4. The candidates should have a valid Junior Research Fellowship from CSIR/ UGC/ ICMR/ DBT/ BINC/ DST-INSPIRE fellowship or Teacher fellowship. Candidates who have qualified GATE or are selected in the categories of Lectureship in CSIR-UGC (NET), DBT- Category II, and JRF under research schemes of ICMR are not eligible. ICMR-NIV does not take any responsibility for providing financial assistance to the candidates.

As per ICMR, the terms and conditions of the fellowship will be as per the norms of the respective funding agency. The reservation policy will be followed as per the rules stipulated by UGC and the Government of India.


EWS (Economically Weaker Section) -

1. Vacancies are tentative and subject to further direction/clarification from the Government of India and are subject to the outcome of any litigation pending in the court of law.

2. The candidates seeking reservation under EWS should fulfill the criteria as prescribed by the Government of India.

3. The benefit of reservation under EWS can be availed upon production of the latest Income and Asset Certificate issued by a Competent Authority.

SC/ST/OBC -

1. Candidates should also attach a true copy of the Caste Certificate/Latest non-creamy layer certificate along with the application.

2. Originals should be produced at the time of personal interview (if conducted offline) or after actual selection at the time of joining (if conducted online).

The names of the shortlisted candidates, along with the date and time for the interview, will be displayed on the ICMR NIV and ICMR website in due course of time and will be communicated to candidates via email in due course of time. The final selection of the candidate will be based on the performance in the online/offline personal interview.

Mere fulfilling the minimum requirements stipulated in the advertisement would not automatically entitle a candidate to selection. The decision of the Institute shall be final and binding in this regard. Canvassing in any form and/or bringing in any political influence will be treated as a disqualification.
