Jaunpur Medical College gets NMC nod for renewal of permission
Jaunpur: Bringing good news to the medical aspirants in Uttar Pradesh, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved renewal of permission to Jaunpur Medical College.
This information was shared by the Principal of the Medical College, Professor (Dr.) Shiv Kumar, when the District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma and Superintendent of Police Dr. Ajay Pal had arrived at the college for a surprise inspection.
Dr Shiv Kumar informed that the Apex medical education regulatory body, NMC has given its permission for the admission of the third MBBS batch.
Uma Nath Singh Autonomous State Medical College, previously known as Government Medical College, Jaunpur is run by the State Government and it is located in Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the National Medical Commission (NMC) had given its approval to the medical college in Jaunpur back in 2021. GMC Jaunpur, along with eight other medical colleges were inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2021.

As per the latest media report by Live Hindustan, during the surprise visit from DM Verma and SP Dr Ajay Pal, the Principal of the institute Dr. Shiv Kumar informed that NMC has given its permission for the admission of the third MBBS batch.
During the inspection, DM Verma also reviewed the construction works of the under construction building and also gave instructions for completing the work of the hospital building for 150 beds, along with OT, incomplete construction works of administrative building, Pathology Department and Community Medicine Department located on the fourth floor of the academic building.
Dr Shivkumar informed that during the on-site inspection by NMC on February 13, 2023, the Commission instructed that to comply with the NMC standard, the institute needs one 250 seats examination hall, one 250 seats seminar room, accommodation for senior/junior residents in the campus, accommodation of 300 students in the girls/boys hostels along with type-2(A), type-2(D), Intern Hostel with 50 beds. It is also very important to complete the construction work of Main road of and the outside wall of the college.
Taking note of all this, the District Magistrate issued strict instructions to the executive body of the college for completing the said construction works and also mentioned that the construction works, as per the NMC standards, should be completed as soon as possible.
The Superintendent of Police and the District Magistrate also interacted with the 100 medical students in LT Hall-01 and after learning the problems faced by them, they issued directions to the concerned authorities. Besides, they also questioned about the educational, administrative and social experiences of the students.
