Puducherry: Through a recent circular, the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) has informed regarding the I year MD/MS PG orientation programme (July 2020 Batch)

All the Heads of the Departments have been informed that the orientation program for first year MD/MS post graduate students will be conducted by the Department of Medical Education on the following days: 3.11.2020, 10.11.2020 & 17.11.2020 (All Tuesdays)

The sessions will be conducted online and there are two aspects to the program.

Online sessions on Zoom: The real-time interactive sessions will be held online. The residents must log in well in advance. They should avoid interruptions and distractions during the sessions and must ensure uninterrupted net connectivity. They will be asked to share their video anytime by the resource faculty to ensure their participation and attendance.

Google Classroom: Google Classroom is a platform for offline interaction and discussion. We will be using this platform for offline interaction with residents. Materials for self-learning will be shared in Google Classroom. The residents must go through the materials and come prepared for the real-time online sessions. Assignments will be given for the residents through Google Classroom. They must complete their assignments in time and submit them. They can make comments in the 'class comments' section which is an excellent provision for discussion before and after the sessions.

Activities in the Google classroom will start with effect from 29.10.2020 onwards. Hence, the HoDs are requested to instruct the residents to join the Google Classroom using the link that will be sent to their email ID. The final program schedule will be shared shortly with all the residents.

Kindly ensure that the first year residents are not posted in night duty on the preceding night and they are made free on the programme days. Please inform all consultants and senior residents regarding this aspect, so that the first year residents are able to make effective use of the program.

Please forward the list of residents and also nominate one student coordinator from your department to liaise with the course co-ordinators and the Department of Medical Education so as to ensure active participation of the first year residents. Please forward your reply to pgopjipmer@gmail.com on or before 29th October 2020.
