Maha CET Cell notifies on Registration Process For Foreign Candidates For Equivalence Of Foreign Degree, Certificate 2023-24

Maharashtra: Maha CET Cell has informed that registration for foreign candidates for equivalence of foreign degrees/certificates for the academic year 2023-24 has begun. The list of applicants received for issuing equivalence certificates of class 1st to 12th, class 1st to 12th March 19 onwards, Bachelor of PhD, and Bachelor of Phd March 19 onwards has also been released.

Per the notice, candidates who have completed their Diploma/Degree from a Foreign University must get it verified by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). The Foreign Board seeking equivalence of qualifications/ examinations/ certificates/courses from AIU will submit their applications in prescribed proforma on AIU Portal.

To apply online for equivalence of a foreign degree/certificate, the candidates must click the link https://evaluation.aiu.ac.in/Student/EHome  

The Competent Authority of AIU has approved the following fee for the applicant Boards –

1. Processing Fee - Rs 50000 (plus 18% GST)

2. Equivalence Fee (one time) - Rs 05 Lakhs (plus 18% GST)

3. Annual Fee - Rs 02 lakhs (plus 18% GST)

School Level Qualifications - Equivalence Certificate is issued for the students having completed their School Level Examinations from Foreign Boards.

Higher Education Qualifications - Equivalence Certificate is issued for the students who have obtained their degrees from Foreign accredited/approved/ recognized Universities.


The Association of Indian Universities (AIU), ever since its inception in 1925, had been vested with the responsibility of according to academic equivalence to the qualifications awarded by the accredited/approved/recognized foreign Boards and Universities for higher studies and employment. AIU thus facilitates the students by issuing equivalence certificates to them.

The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) issued states that "Those foreign qualifications which are recognized/equated by the AIU, are treated as recognized for the purpose of employment to post and services under the Central Government." As of date, the equivalence is accorded based on the Policies, Procedures and Regulations as adopted by different Statutory Bodies and Councils of the Government of India, which are -

1. The degree is awarded by a foreign university which is approved/recognized/ accredited in its own country

2. The student pursues a degree as a full-time regular student on the campus of its origin or the duly approved offshore campus of the university.

3. The minimum prescribed duration of the degree program of the studies is at least the same as applicable in the case of Indian Universities

4. The minimum eligibility requirements for admission in the degree program of studies are at least the same as in the case of Indian Universities.

On fulfilment of the above parameters, equivalence certificates are issued—the candidate needs to complete the formalities and provide all the documents/details as required.
