MBBS admissions at AFMC 2021: Check out eligibility criteria, no of seats, bond details

Pune: Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) is one of the most coveted medical colleges in the country for pursuing MBBS. The AFMC Pune has released a brochure for admission to the MBBS course for the session 2021. 

The brochure, the bulletin consists of eligibility criteria, required qualifications, criteria of marks, and other details about the admissions to MBBS course. A total of 150 candidates (including 05 Govt. sponsored candidates from Friendly Foreign Countries) will be selected in the year 2021, of which 145 (115 boys and 30 girls) will be selected as Medical Cadets for imparting training (including MBBS course) at the Armed Forces Medical College Pune with liability to serve in the Armed Forces Medical Services as Medical Officers. The candidates selected in addition to becoming doctors will also be commissioned as officers of the Indian Armed Forces, wherein they have to be both physically and psychologically robust to be able to undergo the rigors of life in the Armed Forces. The selected candidates need to have leadership qualities, effective communication skills and exacting physical standards, as the same are prime requisites for serving officers of the Armed Forces

Apart from NEET for admission to MBBS course at  AFMC, Pune shall be subject to norms prescribed by the Directorate General Armed Forces Medical Services, Ministry of Defence, and Government of India. This year AFMC has increased the bond amount from Rs 30 lakh to Rs 61 lakh. 

Following are the details of the admission process 

ELIGIBILITY AND QUALIFICATIONS FOR ADMISSION TO MBBS COURSE- 2021 

A candidate seeking admission to the MBBS Course in AFMC is eligible if he/she fulfils the following criteria:-

(a) The candidate should be a citizen of India. Foreign nationals of Indian origin may be admitted into AFMC only after they have acquired Indian Citizenship or in respect of whom the Ministry of Home Affairs issues a certificate of eligibility. This however does not apply to the 05 Govt Sponsored Candidates from Friendly Foreign Countries.

(b) Must be unmarried. Marriage during the course is not permitted.

(c) Should be medically fit as per prescribed standards by the Govt of India, Ministry of Defence (see Appendix 'A').

(d) Age criteria: The candidate should have attained the age of 17 years on 31 Dec 2021 but must not have attained the age of 24 years on that date i.e. must have been born not earlier than 01 January 1998 and not later than 31 December 2004.

(e) Candidates from Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh are also eligible for admission to AFMC Pune.

Duration of the course

The duration of the MBBS course is 4 ½ years followed by compulsory rotating internship training of one year. All medical cadets commissioned into the AFMS will undergo internship training in selected service hospitals recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC).

Admission to AFMC, Pune shall be subject to norms prescribed by the Directorate General Armed Forces Medical Services, Ministry of Defence, and Government of India.

Academic Qualifications

Candidates must have passed one of the qualifying examinations listed in the first attempt with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken simultaneously and securing not less than 60% of the aggregate marks in these three science subjects taken together and not less than 50% marks in English and 50% marks in each of the science subjects. They must have also passed an examination in Mathematics of the tenth standard. The examinations are:-

(a) The Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent examination in Science of a statutory Indian University/Board or other recognized examination body with English, Physics, Chemistry & Biology which shall include practical test in all of these science subjects.

(b) The Pre-professional/Pre-Medical examination with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology (after passing either Higher Secondary School examination or pre-University or equivalent examination) shall include practical tests in these science subjects.

(c) 1st year of three years Degree course of a recognized University with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology including practical test in Science subjects provided the examination is a University Examination.

(d) Senior Secondary of a statutory Examination Board of Indian School Certificate examination of 12 years of study, last two years of study comprising of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics or any other elective subject with English at higher level.

(e) Higher Secondary School Certificate examination of Maharashtra State Board of Higher Secondary Education with English at Higher level, any one of the Modern Indian or Modern Foreign or Classical Languages, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics or any other elective subject.

(f) Any other examination which in scope and standard is found to be equivalent to the Higher Secondary Science/Pre-Professional/Pre-medical Examination of Indian University/ Board with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology including practical test in each of these Science subjects.

(g) B.Sc. Examination of a recognized Indian University provided that he/she has passed the B.Sc. Examination in not less than two of the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology and further that he/she has passed the qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English.

The criteria for marks in Qualifying Examination (i.e. 10 + 2 or equivalent exam) will remain the same for the B.Sc. candidates also.

(h) Candidates who have appeared or will be appearing in qualifying examination may also apply. Admission, if selected, however, will be subject to passing and meeting the eligibility criteria.

(j) Regarding the requirement of Mathematics, any candidate who has passed Higher Secondary, Senior Cambridge or Indian School Certificate Examination and had not offered Mathematics in the final year will be deemed eligible if he/she had studied Mathematics up to the pre-final year stage (X Class) and had passed an examination in the subject provided it was at least of Tenth standard.

A certificate signed by the Head Master or Principal of the school in which the candidate has studied should be produced at the time of interview in such cases. A candidate who had not taken Mathematics at the Tenth or an equivalent examination but had subsequently passed in Mathematics as an additional subject in I. Sc. / B.Sc. examination is also eligible.

8. The following categories of candidates are not eligible to apply: -

(a) Candidates who have passed in Domestic Science, Domestic Arithmetic, and Lower Maths separately or in combination with other subjects like General Science / Social studies in High School / Higher Secondary (Multipurpose) or equivalent examination.

(b) Candidates who have passed only Pre-University / Pre-Degree (one-year course) or Pre-Professional in Agriculture / Veterinary / Dental Examination.

(c) Candidates who have passed the Pre-professional or equivalent qualifying examination as a Private candidate or from Open schools.

(d) Candidates who have secured the requisite percentage but in subsequent attempts or compartment examination.

"It is the responsibility of the candidates to ascertain whether they possess the requisite qualifications for admission. Having filled up the online application form or being called for the interview does not necessarily mean acceptance of eligibility. Final eligibility for admission will be decided by the college and Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik."

Method of selection 

Number of Seats

1. A total of 145 medical cadets (115 boys & 30 girls) will be admitted for the year 2021. In addition to the above 145 seats, Govt of India at its discretion through Ministry of External Affairs & Ministry of Defence may sponsor and select five (05) NEET(UG) qualified foreign students from friendly foreign countries for MBBS training in AFMC, under their aid/collaboration programmes. Reservation

2. Ten seats out of 145 are reserved for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST) subject to the provisions stated in reservation section mentioned below

Examination

3. Candidates seeking admission for MBBS course at AFMC Pune will have to mandatorily qualify the NEET UG 2021 Examination conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA).

4. Eligible candidates who are interested to join AFMC Pune, to pursue the MBBS course will have to mandatorily register and apply for AFMC, Pune on DGHS website: www.mcc.nic.in during the registration window provided by the DGHS. Candidates are advised to visit the above website for details.

5. After the last date of registration, list of candidates who have applied for AFMC, Pune will be provided by DGHS. The NEET Roll No. of the candidates who are shortlisted for the screening at AFMC, Pune based on merit will be displayed on the website. Approximately 1600 candidates (1150 boys and 450 girls) will be called for the screening.

The exact schedule of the screening at AFMC, Pune along with the details of the shortlisted candidates will be available on the website: www.afmcdg1d.gov.in /www.mcc.nic.in. Request for change of date of interview will NOT be entertained except under extreme circumstances.

6. (a) The shortlisted candidates will be called for Test of English Language, Comprehension, Logic and Reasoning (ToELR), Psychological Assessment Test (PAT), Interview and Medical Examination at AFMC, Pune.

(b) Test of English Language Comprehension, Logic and Reasoning (ToELR) will be in the form of Computer Based Test (CBT) consisting of 40 MCQs of 2.0 marks each amounting to a maximum of 80 marks and will be held at AFMC, Pune. There will be negative marks of 0.5 for every incorrect answer. These 40 questions will be required to be answered in 30 minutes.

The marks obtained in ToELR will be added to NEET UG -2021 score (max of 720) to get a score out of 800. This will be divided by 4 to get the written examination score out of 200. The interview will consist of 50 marks. The final merit will be based on the final score thus obtained (Written examination score + Interview marks). PAT is a qualifying examination and PAT score will not be considered for preparing final merit list.

(c) The final result of the selected Merit List and Wait-list candidates would be available on the MCC portal (www.mcc.nic.in), as well as on the websites www.afmc.nic.in www.afmcdg1d.gov.in.

7. The candidates will be required to produce originals of all certificates/mark-sheets, NEET UG -  2021 admit card (hall ticket), NEET UG-2021 scorecard and original certificate of NCC, Sports certificate at school, District, State & National /International level, if any, at the time of the screening at AFMC Pune.

All candidates will produce result or proof of having appeared in the qualifying examination, at the time of screening (if the result of such examination has not been declared). Original mark sheet & pass certificate of qualifying examination, however, will have to be produced prior to admission.

8. On the basis of the NEET UG – 2021 score and screening at AFMC, two merit lists, one for boys and one for girls, will be drawn up and admissions will be offered only to these shortlisted candidates in accordance with their final merit position. The remaining candidates will be on the waiting list. The result will be displayed on the websites stated above and at the O/o DGAFMS and Admission Cell, AFMC Pune.

9. Candidates admitted to AFMC for MBBS course have a compulsory liability to serve as Commissioned Officers in the Armed Forces Medical Services. The offer of the type of commission will depend upon the vacancies available and shall be determined on merit-cum-option at the final MBBS examination.

The liability of the SSC officers passing out of AFMC to serve in the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) would be 7 (seven) years. The Permanent Commission (PC) Officers will have to serve in AFMS till date of superannuation. Complete details of Service Liability & Bond Agreement will be given to the candidates shortlisted for the screening.

10. At the time of admission parents/guardians of the candidates are required to sign a bond agreement for Rs 61,00,000/- (Rupees Sixty One Lakhs only). Any candidate withdrawing from the college after 7 days of admission [after 1600hrs (4 PM)] will have to pay Bond Money as per existing rules.

Removal from Service Liability

11. Medical cadets may be removed from service liability at any time during the training period on account of becoming medically unfit for grant of commission or on poor academic record/disciplinary grounds.

They may, however, be permitted, at the sole discretion of the DGAFMS on a case to case basis, to complete MBBS Course on payment of Bond money & cost of training and given NOC after clearing all dues to undergo internship training in civil hospitals recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC).

12. In case of medical cadets are removed/opted out from service liability after passing final MBBS examination, the NOC for joining internship training in civil hospital will only be issued after the Bond Money is paid in full. Such candidates will not be permitted to undergo internship training in service institutions under any circumstances. 

RESERVATION

SC/ST Candidates

 Reservation is only for SC/ST category candidates. Ten seats out of 145 are reserved for SC/ST candidates subject to fulfilling the following criteria:-

(a) The SC/ST candidates must have applied for AFMC, Pune and also qualified in the NEET UG – 2021 written examination.

(b) If shortlisted and called for screening at AFMC, they must come within the first 500 in the final combined merit list of boys and girls.

(c) They must fulfill all other conditions/standards, as applicable to non-SC / ST candidates, like age eligibility, academic qualifications, medical fitness, etc.

(d) These reserved seats will be in addition to any vacancies secured by SC / ST candidates on the basis of their position in the merit list.

(e) In case of any SC / ST girl/boy, admitted against reserved vacancies the number of girls/boys to be admitted against the general seats will be reduced correspondingly.

(f) All such candidates will have to sign a surety bond on the same lines and on the same conditions as Non-SC / ST candidates. 

ADMISSION PROCESS

1.Document Scrutiny: The candidates called for admission will have to produce the original Admit card for NEET UG – 2021 containing the NEET Roll number, original mark sheets of their qualifying examination and other documents, details of which will be given in the joining instructions. If their results and mark sheets are not received by the date of reporting for admission to AFMC, their candidature will be cancelled and no representation in this respect will be entertained.

No candidate will be admitted provisionally awaiting result of the qualifying examination. If at any point of time in the process of interview, admission, or MBBS course the documents of the candidate are found to be false/not authentic or any other discrepancy is observed, the candidature/selection / admission of the candidate will be cancelled forthwith.

2. The List of waiting list candidates will be released along with the merit list only. The waitlisted candidates will be called in blocks and will be offered seats in order of merit. Candidates reporting in excess of the number of available vacancies, on the date of reporting, will be advised to report every day, thereafter, at 0900hr for any vacancy arising till the completion of admission process.

Any vacancy arising, till the closure of admission process, will be filled up the subsequent day. Hence, candidates are advised to stay at Pune till all the vacancies are filled up (115 boys and 30 girls). Those in the waiting list should keep certificates and fees ready and be ready to move at short notice on receipt of intimation by telephone, Letter or e-mail.

24. No intimation about non-selection or correspondence in this regard will be entertained. No seats will be kept vacant for candidates higher in merit on waiting list if they fail to report on the date and time on which they have been called for reporting.

25. Candidates MUST preserve the NEET UG–2021 admit card till the admission to AFMC is over. Admit card along with NEET UG–2021 Roll number, will be required during the interview and final admission to college.

26. Medical Examination: All candidates will be subjected to medical examination as per the requirement of the Armed Forces and as per the laid down standards. The details of the same are given in Paragraphs 46 to 49. The candidates who have been declared medically unfit by the Medical Board of AFMC will not figure in the final merit list for admission.

27. Legal Jurisdiction: All disputes pertaining to the application process and admission to the college shall fall within the jurisdiction of Pune / Maharashtra only.

28. Hostel Facility: The College is fully residential and stay in the hostel is compulsory for all medical cadets once they join/take admission in the college. Separate hostels for boys and girls are located in the college campus. 

29. If a medical cadet is removed from service liability on account of being found medically unfit for commission or on disciplinary/academic grounds, he/she will have to make his / her own arrangements for stay.

30. Messing Facility: All medical cadets residing in the hostel are required to be members of the Mess attached to the hostel. Vegetarian / Non-vegetarian food is served in the cadets' mess as per the choice of the medical cadets.

SPECIAL CONCESSIONS

31. The government provides the following concessions to service liability candidates (male and female):-

(a) Entitled rations as authorized and subsidized messing arrangements.

(b) Hostel accommodation and allied services.

(c) AC-3 Tier railway warrant for journey during term vacation from college to home and back.

(d) AC-2 Tier rail journey on railway warrant after being commissioned.

(e) Book & Equipment Allowance of Rs 4,000/- per medical cadet per year for purchase of books and equipment during the entire training period.

(f) Stationery Allowance of Rs 1120/- per year & Rs 140/- per month.

(g) Uniform allowance – Rs 6000/- per medical cadet during first year, and Rs 1250/- per year as maintenance allowance in subsequent years.

(h) Hair Cutting Allowance of Rs 140/- per month per medical cadet.

(j) Washing allowance – Rs 560/- per month & Rs 210/- during break

(k) All AFMC cadets are provided Insurance / Disability benefits by Army Group Insurance fund on payment of Rs 7,200/- as a one-time non-refundable premium. Additional premium for every relegated term of six months is Rs 1355/-. Insurance cover is Rs 15,00,000/- for death and Rs 7,50,000/- for 100% disability proportionately reduced to Rs 1,50,000/- for 20% disability.

Further details regarding terms and conditions are available with the Admission Cell, AFMC. The scheme is compulsory for all cadets.

 The above concessions/facilities are subject to amendment without notice as per Govt orders issued from time to time. 

HEALTH AND RECREATIONAL FACILITIES 

37. Medical cadets are required to participate in co-curricular & extra-curricular activities like games, sports, gymnastics etc. Facilities for sports such as cricket, tennis, squash, hockey, football, volleyball, basketball, handball, table tennis, aquatics and gymnastics are available. Ample facilities exist for pursuing & nurturing various hobbies like music, dance & drama, debate & quizzing etc.

(a) There is an auditorium for screening of movies, membership for which is compulsory.

(b) Medical cadets with service liability are entitled to free outpatient/ inpatient/ dental treatment at all times in any service hospital / dental centre to the extent of medical facilities available locally. Periodic Medical Examination / Medical Board as considered necessary would also be carried out.

(c) All medical cadets are required to undergo an Annual Medical Examination.

38. Vacations: Medical cadets will be given vacations as per university curriculum, generally as under: -

(a) Summer: 2-3 weeks (approximately) in May / Jun

(b) Winter: 2-3 weeks (approximately) in Dec / Jan

(The schedule of vacations for the year 2021-22 is subject to change due to prevailing circumstances of COVID-19 pandemic.)

CAREER PROSPECT

On successful completion of MBBS Course from AFMC the medical cadets join the Armed Forces Medical Services as Commissioned Officers in one of the three services, viz. Army, Navy and Air Force. On the basis of merit-cum-choice 50% of the authorized strength of the course are offered Permanent Commission (PC) and the rest Short Service Commission (SSC).

Promotions to next higher ranks exist in the Cadre subject to satisfactory service and fitness for the rank. The rank structure and the promotions along with initial monthly basic pay as per recommendations of 7th pay commission [GoI, Min of Defence resolution No. 1(7)/2016/D(Pay/Services) dated 28 Jun 2017] are as tabled under:-

In addition, Military Service Pay (MSP), Non-practicing allowance and Dearness Allowance as applicable, subsidized accommodation and allied facilities shall be provided. In addition, officers are entitled to 60 days Annual Leave & 20 days Casual Leave in a year, Leave Travel Concession (LTC), free Medical Services for self & family including dependent parents, Group Insurance of Rs. 75 lakhs & Canteen Stores Depot (CSD) facility etc are also available. The above emoluments and facilities are subject to revision.

In the Armed Forces a large majority of specialties and sub-specialties are available. PC & SSC officers after completion of 4 years of service as Captain are eligible for selection to Post-Graduation (PG) / DNB qualification in selected service hospitals through NEET-PG / DNB-CET conducted by National Board of Examinations (NBE) as per merit and terms of services and prevailing selection criteria.

Permanent commission officers on completion of stipulated mandatory period of service are also entitled to proceed on 02 / 03 years study leave with full pay for advanced training in India or abroad as per service requirements. The AFMS institutes offer around 400 PG seats and about 40 super- specialty seats each year.

Cancellation of Admission

 Any candidate, during the whole process of admission or subsequently after admission, if found to be having less marks in the qualifying examination or produces false certificates or suppresses any disease to get admission, his / her admission will be treated as cancelled and fees / deposit will be forfeited.

Dispatch of Documents

Please do not send any testimonials or copies of mark sheet or result to AFMC, Pune. The original certificates and documents would be required and checked at the time of screening and admission only.

Service Liability

 All the medical cadets admitted to AFMC for MBBS Course have service liability to serve in the Armed Forces Medical Services after completing the course. The Armed Forces have prescribed medical standards and fitness criteria for deciding medical fitness of candidate for grant of commission. All candidates will be examined as per standards applicable for commission in the Armed Forces.

Medical Examination

The Medical Boards will be held as per the instructions of the Office of DGAFMS.

The candidates called for the screening will be subjected to a Medical Board constituted by the Director & Commandant AFMC. Any candidate found unfit by this Medical Board will have the option for an Appeal Medical Board constituted by the Commandant AFMC. If he/she wishes to appeal, he/she should apply to the Commandant, AFMC, Pune within 24 hours of the Initial Medical Board (excluding holidays / Sundays).

The decision of the Appeal Medical Board will be final. There is no provision for medical examination/board of any other nature after a candidate has been declared unfit by the Appeal Medical Board.

There is no provision for declaring a candidate Temporary Unfit. Candidates finally declared unfit, will not be considered for admission. No seat will be kept pending on account of the candidate wishing to undergo treatment (Medical / Surgical) for a disease/disability for which he/she is made unfit.

There is no provision of any medical board being held in civil/private hospitals. Fitness of the candidates is decided as per the medical fitness standards and criteria prescribed for grant of Commission in the Army Medical Corps and decision of Commandant, AFMC will be final in this regard.

MEDICAL STANDARDS

1. To be declared fit for admission, the candidate must be in good physical and mental health and free from any disability likely to interfere with the efficient performance of duty in the Armed Forces.

2. Medical Examination will be carried out by a Board of Officers at AFMC Pune, prior to admission to the College. Medical Board will categorize the candidates as Fit and Unfit, in accordance with the prescribed standards. Candidates declared Unfit are entitled to appeal on payment of a fee of Rs 40/- only. The candidates who wish to appeal against the decision of the initial medical board have to do so in person on the same day or the very next day.

Any representation at a later date or by phone / E-mail will not be entertained. The President of the Medical Board / OIC Admission Cell will intimate the procedure to the concerned candidates.

3. Medical fitness for admission to MBBS Course at AFMC will be decided by the Medical Board as per Para 2 above. However, the following few important physical requirements are being indicated for guidance of the candidates. These guidelines are not comprehensive and are subject to revision, and the Medical Board will be guided by departmental instructions issued from time to time. The candidates in their own interest may get themselves medically examined to avoid any disappointment later on:-

(a) They should be free from serious deformity and mal-developments. There should be no scoliosis, spina bifida and other skeletal deformities, apparent or on clinical examination.

(b) There should be no impediment of speech.

(c) There should be no sign of functional/organic disease of the heart and blood vessels.

(d) There should be no evidence of active Pulmonary TB or any sequelae due to Pulmonary TB or any other chronic disease of the lungs. X-ray chest will be taken for this purpose.

(e) There should be no evidence of any disease of the digestive system, including any abnormality of the liver and spleen. Ultrasound exam (USG) of the abdomen will be done.

(f) There should be no inguinal hernia or tendency thereto, hydrocele or definite varicocele, or any other disease or defect of the genital organs. Candidates who have been operated for hernia may be declared medically fit provided:-

(i) More than one year has elapsed since operation. Documentary proof to this effect is to be provided by the candidates.

(ii) General tone of the abdominal musculature is good.

(iii) There has been no recurrence of the hernia or any complication concerned with the operation.

(g) A Gynaecological & Ultrasound Examination will be carried out for all female candidates.

(h) There is no fistula or evidence of piles.

(j) There is no disease of the kidneys, including glycosuria or albuminuria.

(k) There is no disease of the skin.

(l) There is no active, latent or congenital STD or HIV infection.

(m) There is no history of epilepsy and any mental and psychiatric disorder.

(n) There is no squint or any other morbid condition of the eye and eyelids.

(o) There is no active trachoma or its complications.

(p) There are no enlarged glands (Lymph nodes) in the neck and other parts of the body.

(q) The height and weight requirements will depend upon the age, body build and racial characteristics as per standards laid down for Armed Forces. The minimum requirement is as follows:-

(i) Standards for Boys: The minimum height required for entry into the Armed Forces for male cadets is 157 cm. Candidates from Hills and North Eastern States will be accepted with a minimum height of 152 cm. An allowance for growth of 02 cm will be made for candidates below 18 yrs at the time of examination.

(ii) Standards for Girls: The minimum height required for entry into the Armed Forces for female cadets is 152 cm. Candidates from Hills and North Eastern States will be accepted with a minimum height of 147 cm. An allowance for growth of 02 cm will be made for candidates below 18 yrs at the time of examination.

(iii) Overweight and obese candidates as per Height / Age / Weight standards for the Armed Forces will be declared unfit.

(iv) Weight standards: Weight for height charts given below will be the standard for both boys and girls. These charts have been based on the BMI. The charts specify the minimum and maximum acceptable weight that candidates of a particular height must-have. Weights below the minimum specified will not be acceptable in any case.

There should be a minimum 5 cm range of chest expansion.

The Armed Forces Medical College is a Defence Services institution. Every medical cadet is, therefore, required to conduct himself/herself in a disciplined and befitting manner. Medical cadets are required to be properly dressed at all times and be punctilious in paying compliments to the members of the staff.

The conduct of the medical cadets during the period of stay in the college will be governed by the Code of Conduct prescribed, a copy of which will be made available to all medical cadets on admission to the college.

Breach of discipline and failure to abide with the rules and regulations of the college, hostel, or mess will render a medical cadet to disciplinary action including being struck off the college rolls/expulsion from the college / declared as Non-Service Liability (NSL) with consequent financial implications.

Medical cadets are required to be punctual and regular in attending classes and shall appear at all tests and examinations. If medical cadet's attendance or academic performance is not up to the required standard, he/she may be detained for the term. Disciplinary action will be taken against cadets for being absent from classes.

RAGGING

(a) The Armed Forces Medical College recommends the promotion of a sense of confidence amongst every student entering the portals of this medical institution. It is therefore imperative that the natural scope of training at this institution should include high standards of professional knowledge, development of character and leadership qualities to instill a high sense of duty, discipline, integrity, loyalty and honour.

It is here that the cadets foster the camaraderie and 'Esprit de Corps' for subsequent relationships with each other as officers during their service. Therefore, there is no place for ragging in any form. Any form of ragging is strictly prohibited in this institution, which includes abusing, harassing, ill-treating, manhandling, bullying, or awarding undignified or unauthorized punishment to a cadet by any other cadet.

Strict disciplinary action will be taken against any cadet indulging in ragging and he/she will be liable for expulsion from the college in accordance with Supreme Court & MUHS ruling on the subject.

(b) It is reiterated that ragging is a cognizable offence and will invite police proceedings in consonance with judgment of the Supreme Court of India in Civil Appeal No.887 of 2009 dated 08 May 2009. It is mandatory for students and his /her parents to submit an anti-ragging affidavit initially at the time of admission to MBBS course and thereafter on commencement of each term.

The affidavit is to be filled online by logging on to http://antiragging.in. A printout of the E-mail received by the cadet and parents as acknowledgement is to be submitted to Brigadier Administration (UG) at the beginning of each term with signature of the cadet and parents duly affixed thereon.
