MBBS, BDS Admission in Punjab: GMC Mohali not offering EWS quota seats
Faridkot: Punjab-based Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) has not reserved any seats at the Government Medical College at Mohali for the students belonging to economically weaker section (EWS).
Even though the University has reserved 50 out of total 600 MBBS seats in three government medical colleges at Amritsar, Patiala and Fairdkot, GMC Mohali remains an exception.
The reason that the University took such a decision is the fact that the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) and the National Medical Commission (NMC) has not inspected the college yet. Therefore, the EWS quota rule has not been made applicable for this institute.
Meanwhile, the a five-judge constitution bench of the Supreme Court has reserved its verdict on a batch of pleas that challenged the constitutional validity of the EWS quota reservation.
