Among the government institutions, Government Medical College, Amritsar and Government Medical College, Patiala lead the chart with 250 seats each, contributing significantly to public medical education in the state. Other key government institutes include Dr B R Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences (99 seats) and Guru Gobind Singh Medical College, Faridkot (150 seats).
The private and deemed medical colleges also play a crucial role. Christian Medical College, Ludhiana, and Dayanand Medical College & Hospital each offer 100 seats, while Adesh Institute of Medical Sciences & Research and Gian Sagar Medical College contribute 150 seats each.
The newly included RIMT Medical College and Hospital, Fatehgarh Sahib, has been allocated 50 seats, expanding access to MBBS education in semi-urban regions. Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences, Jalandhar and Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Amritsar, also offer 150 seats each.
