As per the state selection committee, the deadline for UG Medical admission ended on 11th April 2022.

While discussing with The Hindu, P. Vasanthamani, selection secretary Directorate of Medical Education, said, `under the AIQ, counselling for which was conducted by the Directorate-General of Health Services in the Union Health Ministry, 24 seats are still vacant after the stray vacancy round of counselling. The vacancies in the management quota included NRI lapsed seats.

This year 812 seats in state-run medical colleges were surrendered to AIQ for centralized admission. On 11th April 2022, the stray vacancy round was conducted for 18 seats in self-financing colleges. The vacant seats couldn't be given to colleges earlier because NMC had approved 50 additional seats to a private college. Before giving the seat to colleges 1 Mop-Up round was needed.

The entire counselling process is online for seats under 85% state quota and 100% private colleges. Admissions are granted based on the choices filled, NEET-UG rank, seat matrix, reservation, and other factors. The counselling of the remaining 15% seats is conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).

The admissions are given only to candidates whose documents are verified. A self-declaration form at the time of the reporting to the concerned college is needed to be given by the candidates.
