Appearing for NEET 2026- Check do's and don'ts for exam day

New Delhi: Two days are left for the National Eligibility and Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) examination for the academic year 2026-2027. Candidates appearing for this MBBS entrance test should be aware of the 'Dos and Don'ts' for NEET 2026 exam day.

The guidelines will not only assist students but also help the candidates' parents understand what is permitted and what is not. This will alleviate pressure to some extent, allowing them to feel more composed on the day of the examination.

According to the NEET UG 2026 official information bulletin, the candidates will be subjected to extensive and compulsory frisking before entering the Examination Centre with the help of highly sensitive metal detectors. They may also undergo various other identity verification checks, such as Biometric Authentication, Face Authentication, videography etc.

The candidates are not allowed to carry the following items inside the Examination Centre under any circumstances-

BARRED ITEMS

1 Any item like textual material (printed or written), bits of paper, Geometry/Pencil Box, Plastic Pouch, Calculator, Pen, Scale, Writing Pad, Pen Drives, Eraser, Calculator, Log Table, Electronic Pen/Scanner, etc.

2 Any communication device like a mobile phone, Bluetooth, Earphones, Microphone, Pager, Health Band, etc.

3 Other items like Wallet, Goggles, Handbags, Belt, Cap, etc.

4 Any Watch/Wristwatch, Bracelet, Camera, etc.

5 Any ornaments/metallic items.

6 Any food items opened or packed, water bottle, etc.

7 Any other item which could be used for unfair means, by hiding communication devices like a microchip, camera, Bluetooth device, etc.

The candidates wearing articles or objects of faith (customary/ cultural/ religious) should report at the examination centre at least two hours before the last reporting time so that there is enough time for proper frisking without any inconvenience to the candidate while maintaining the sanctity of the examination.

INFORMATION FOR PARENTS/GUARDIANS

Meanwhile, it is expected that parents/guardians will guide their wards appropriately on the following issues before leaving home to appear in the NEET (UG) – 2026-

1 The candidate will not be allowed to enter the Examination Centre after 01:30 PM. Therefore, the candidate shall leave home well in advance, taking into consideration various factors such as traffic, location of the Centre and weather conditions, etc.

2 The candidate will follow all the instructions and maintain discipline in the Examination Hall.

3 The candidate will not breach any examination rule.

4 The candidate will not use or promote any Unfair means activity during the examination.

5 In case the candidate finds another candidate using Unfair means in the examination, the same will be immediately informed to the Invigilators on duty.

6 The candidate will bring only the following to the Examination Centre:

i Admit Card along with a passport-size photograph affixed on it.

ii One passport-size photograph is to be affixed on the Attendance Sheet.

iii Valid Original Identity proof, PwBD certificate, if applicable.

iv One Post Card Size (4” X6”) colour photograph with white background should be pasted on the Proforma downloaded with the Admit Card.

7 The candidate shall not bring any barred items to the Centre.

8 The candidate shall cooperate with the staff at the Examination Centre during Frisking.

9 The candidates shall report at the allotted Examination Centre well in advance to make themselves available for compulsory physical frisking.

10 The candidate shall follow the dress code for appearing in the NEET (UG) - 2026 Examination. If candidates are wearing a customary dress, they need to report at the allotted Examination centre latest by 12:30 PM on the day of the examination.

11 The candidate should regularly visit the website and also check their registered email/SMS for any updates regarding the Examination.

It is mandatory to provide the Mobile Number and email of the Parent or Guardian during the submission of the online Application Form of NEET (UG) – 2026, as a copy of the Confirmation Page, Final Score Card will also be sent to them.

In case your ward is found breaching any of the above, the candidate (your ward) will not be permitted to enter the Examination Centre and will not be allowed to appear in the examination.

If your ward indulges in any disruptive/unauthorised/unfair activities, he/she shall be debarred from taking this examination as per rules and shall also be liable for criminal action and/or any other action deemed fit by the NTA.

INSTRUCTIONS TO BE FOLLOWED IN THE EXAMINATION HALL

The Examination Centre will be opened three (03) hours before the commencement of the test. No candidate shall be allowed to enter the Examination Centre after 1:30 PM. Therefore, candidates must ensure that they leave home well in advance, considering all facts like traffic, location of the Centre, weather conditions, etc. Candidates are expected to take their seats immediately after the opening of the Examination Hall.

The candidate must show, on demand, the Admit Card for admission in the Examination Hall. A candidate who does not possess a valid Admit Card shall not be allowed to enter the Examination Hall by the Centre Superintendent.

A seat with a roll number will be allotted to each candidate. Candidates must find out and occupy their allotted seats. If a candidate is found appearing in the Examination from a seat or room other than the allotted one, the candidature shall be cancelled.

During the examination time, the Invigilator will check the Admit Card of the candidates to ascertain the identity of each candidate. The Invigilators will also put their own signature in the place provided in the Answer Sheet and on the Attendance Sheet.

A candidate who comes after 01:30 PM shall not be permitted to enter the Examination Centre under any circumstances.

Candidates must bring only the following documents on the day of the examination at the test centre. Candidates who will not bring these will not be allowed to sit in the examination.

The exam body, the National Testing Agency (NTA), will be conducting the NEET UG 2026 on May 03, 2026 (Sunday), from O2:00 PM to 05:00 PM (Indian Standard Time). This examination will be conducted in Pen & Paper mode (offline) across various centres in India and abroad.
