Appearing for NEET SS 2024? Know complete Exam Scheme, changes

New Delhi- The National Board of Medical Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) is soon going to conduct the National Eligibility Entrance Test-Super Speciality (NEET SS) for the academic year 2024. The candidates willing to appear for the NEET SS 2024 must be aware of the examination scheme.

In this regard, NBE has released the information bulletin on the official website of NBEMS. The NEET SS 2024 information bulletin contains the complete examination scheme as mentioned below:

SCHEME OF NEET SS EXAMINATION

The NEET-SS 2024 shall be conducted as per the following scheme-

1 The examination will be group group-based examination.

2 Candidates from all eligible feeder speciality subjects shall be required to appear in the question paper of the respective group if they are willing to opt for a superspecialty seat in any of the super-speciality courses covered in that group. A candidate can opt for appearing in the question papers of as many groups for which his/her PG speciality qualification is an eligible feeder qualification.

3 All DM/MCh/DrNB Courses offered for admission through NEET-SS 2024 are grouped into 15 different groups, to administer the question paper. There shall be a common question paper for admission to all the superspecialty courses covered in a particular group. Accordingly, there shall be 15 different question papers.

4 13 out of 15 groups shall have a primary feeder broad speciality subject. The question papers of these groups will consist of questions from the General/Basic component of the respective primary feeder broad speciality subject and from all sub-speciality/ systems/components of that primary feeder broad speciality subject. All the questions would be from the Curriculum of the Post Graduate Exit level of the primary feeder broad speciality subject.

5 Total number of questions in a question paper shall be 150 to be attempted in 2 ½ hours duration (150 minutes).

6 Multiple Eligible Broad Specialty Feeder- Wherever more than one broad speciality is an eligible feeder for admission to a super speciality subject, candidates of all such eligible feeder specialities shall be required to appear in the question paper of the respective group.

7 Critical Care Medicine Group and Medical Oncology Group- Critical Care Medicine Group and Medical Oncology Group, the questions in the papers shall be from the topics of respective super speciality subjects

i For admissions to DM/DrNB Medical Oncology, there shall be a separate Question Paper Group (Medical Oncology Group). The questions in the paper of this group shall be exclusively from the topics of Medical Oncology

ii For admissions to DM/DrNB Critical Care Medicine, there shall be a separate Question Paper Group (Critical Care Medicine Group). The questions in the paper of this group shall be exclusively from the topics of Critical Care Medicine.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported about the changes in the NEET SS 2024 exam pattern. The NBE announced changes in the exam pattern and as per the notice, there will be separate question papers for candidates for Medical Oncology and Critical Care Medicine Groups.

MARKING SCHEME

There shall be a 25% negative marking for incorrect answers. No marks will be deducted for unattempted questions. Allocation of marks for each MCQ shall be as follows-

During the examination, candidates are given the option to mark any question, whether attempted or not, for review which means that the candidate has been given the option to go through these questions again before the examination time ends. Candidates may note that such questions which are marked for review shall be evaluated as per the marking scheme.

Meanwhile, NBEMS will be conducting the NEET-SS 2024 in two slots in 2 days on a computer-based platform at various exam centres across the country. Interested candidates can start submitting the application form for the NEET-SS 2024. Below is the complete schedule-
