CMC Vellore PG medical admissions 2021: DME issues notice on service obligation period, Check out seat matrix for minority candidates
Tamil Nadu: Through a written notice Director of Medical Education (DME) has released details related to service obligation period after completion of PG course, eligible candidates and seat matrix for the 30% seats under minority network & minority service categories with respect to CMC Vellore PG medical admissions. Besides, the counselling body has released the list of candidates (70% Christian minority) allotted, minimum requirements for candidates to be eligible, criteria for seat eligibility for 30% seats, categories for PG admission for 30% seats for PG course in Christian Medical College (CMC Vellore).
DME has stated that all candidates admitted for MD/MS clinical courses and MD/MS pre- and paraclinical courses in the minority network & minority service category will have to serve a minimum of 3 years in CMC Vellore or one of its associated mission hospitals.
Candidates admitted for a diploma course in the minority network & minority service category will have to serve a minimum of 2 years. All candidates admitted for the 6-year M.Ch. Neurosurgery Broad speciality course will have to serve a minimum of 6 years, in CMC Vellore or one of the associated mission hospitals, as in the previous years.
DME has further notified that there is no service obligation for candidates admitted in the pre-and paraclinical MD/MS and diploma courses who are not in the minority network or minority service categories.
The clause prescribed for discontinuation of the course and non-fulfilment of service obligation in the government prospectus will apply. If the candidate discontinues the course after joining, resulting in a lapse of the seat, then will have to pay a penalty of Rs.15 lakhs for PG degree courses and Rs. 10 lakhs for PG diploma courses. Nonfulfillment of service obligation will result in a penalty of Rs.40 lakhs for PG degree courses and Rs.20 lakhs for PG diploma courses.

Categories for PG admission for 30% seats, CMC Vellore –
MNW-Minority Network: Christian minority candidates with 2 years of Service in the CMC Vellore network hospitals, who have been recommended by an MNW organization for a postgraduate course and fulfil the specified criteria for the MNW category as given in the CMC Vellore Medical PG Bulletin 2021, and have undertaken to serve in the network hospitals for a minimum period of 3 years.
MS-Minority Service: Christian minority candidates with 2 years of Service in needy areas as specified in the CMC Vellore Medical PG Bulletin 2021 (network mission hospitals/leprosy hospitals/Armed Forces/Government PHCs/tribal areas/rural and remote areas/work in slums with registered NGOs), who will be required to serve in the .network hospitals for a minimum period of 3 years.
Eligibility criteria for a PG seat in CMC Vellore –
1. The candidate has to be PG NEET qualified with a minimum of 50% marks.
2. Date of completion of internship by 30th September 2021, MBBS service obligation completed by 29th June 2021 and Medical PG diploma service obligation by 30th September 2021.
3. The appropriate authority must sign the service obligation completion certificate for candidates who had an MBBS/post-diploma service obligation.
4. If applying for PG, a candidate with an MBBS service obligation of more than 2 years has to get a 2 years service obligation completion certificate signed by the authorized signatory of the MNW churches/organizations and should be recommended again by the same body. The candidates are eligible to accept an MNW seat only for the course they are recommended for.
5. A post-diploma candidate with an incomplete service obligation is eligible for admission to a PG degree course only if recommended again by the same MNW organization for the same speciality.
Criteria for seat eligibility for 30% seats –
1. Minority network (MNW) category has to be verified by CMC Vellore for MNW seats.
2. Candidates whose proof of service has been verified by CMC, Vellore, are eligible for available seats in available courses in the minority service category (MS).
Method of seat allocation among categories -
1. A candidate eligible for an MNW category seat is also eligible for an MS category seat.
2. A candidate eligible only for the MS category seat is not eligible for the MNW category seat.
