Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test- GPAT 2024 Registration Begins, Know Schedule, Eligibility Criteria, Fee, Exam Scheme, All Details Here
New Delhi- The National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has invited applications for the Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) 2024. On this, NBE has released an information bulletin detailing the important dates, eligibility criteria, fee structure and scheme of examination.
GPAT 2024 is a national-level examination for the award of scholarships to qualified candidates seeking entry into the Master of Pharmacy (M. Pharm) course.
GPAT 2024 is being conducted by NBEMS on June 8, 2024, on a computer-based platform at various testing centres across the country. Meanwhile, the registration process will start today i.e. 19th April 2024 at 3 PM and will continue till 11:55 PM on 8th May 2024. The application can only be submitted online at the NBE official website.

EXAMINATION FEE

The application form once submitted cannot be withdrawn as well as the fee can neither be carried forward to a future date nor refunded under any circumstances. Any claim for refund, adjustment or carrying forward of the Application fee will not be entertained.
1 The candidate should be a citizen of India.
2 The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (4 years after 10+2, including lateral entry students) or equivalent from a recognised university.
3 Candidates appearing for the final year (4th Year) examination of Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm) whose results will be declared before commencement of admission to the M. Pharm course for the academic year 2024-25 are eligible to appear in GPAT 2024. Candidates appearing for the Prefinal year (3rd Year) examination of Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm) whose results for the Final Year (4th Year) will be declared before commencement of admission to the M. Pharm course for the academic year 2025-26 are also eligible to appear in GPAT 2024.
4 B.E./ B.Tech. (Pharmaceutical and Fine Chemical Technology)/ equivalent candidates are not eligible to appear in GPAT 2024.
5 Candidates found to be ineligible at any stage of GPAT 2024 will not be permitted to appear in the examination and/or counselling. In the unlikely event of any ineligible candidate appearing and/or being successful in the GPAT 2024, the results/ candidature of such candidate shall be cancelled and/or will be deemed to be cancelled.
6 Eligibility of candidates issued admit card for the examination shall be purely provisional. Appearance in GPAT 2024 does not confer any automatic rights upon the candidate for admission to M. Pharm courses and/or award of scholarship.
7 Candidates are advised not to canvass with NBEMS for eligibility in GPAT or issuance of admit card. Queries, if any, can be submitted through the Communication Web Portal only. Canvassing in any form shall invite rejection of the application.
SCHEME OF GPAT 2024
SYLLABUS
The syllabus for the GPAT shall comprise the subject/knowledge areas as per “The Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm.) Course Regulations, 2024”.
The examination shall be a multiple choice questions test delivered using a computer network (CBT) as per the scheme prescribed. An indicative Blueprint of the examination is as under:

The exam comprises of 125 Multiple Choice Questions with each question having 4 response options/ distractors in the English language only. Candidates are required to select the correct/best/most appropriate response/answer out of the 4 response options provided in each question. The time allotted is 3 hrs (180 minutes).

1 There shall be a 25% negative marking for incorrect answers. No marks will be deducted for unattempted questions.
2 The question paper for GAPT will be divided into multiple time-bound sections. For example, if there are 5-time bound sections* (Section A, B, C, D & E) in the question paper, each Section will have 25 questions and 36 minutes allotted for the section. Candidates would be restricted to proceed to the next section only after completion of the allotted time of the previous section and candidates would not be allowed to review the questions/modify the responses of a section after the completion of the allotted time of that section. Questions of the next section will start automatically after the completion of the allotted time of the previous section.
3 Candidates will be given the option to mark any question, whether attempted or not, for review which means that the candidate has been given an option to go through these questions in a section again before the allotted time to a section ends. Candidates may note that such questions which are marked for review shall be evaluated as per the marking scheme mentioned above.

COUNSELLING AND RESERVATION
1 In the case of Institutes run by the Central Government, the reservation would be applicable as mentioned below:
i 15% of the seats for Scheduled Castes (SC) candidates.
ii 7.5% seats for Scheduled Tribes (ST) candidates.
iii 27% seats for Other Backward Classes (OBC) Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) candidates as per the Central List.
iv 10% of the seats for General Economically Weaker Sections (General - EWS) candidates.
2 Each category will have 5% reservations for the candidates with 40% or more disability.
3 In the case of the Institutes run/aided/recognised by State Governments, the reservation policy of the respective State Governments shall be applicable.
4 OBC - NCL (Non-Creamy Layer) as per the Central list of OBC alone are eligible to claim OBC reservation in the counselling/admission. All OBC applicants for GPAT are accordingly advised to indicate their category as OBC in the application form only if their caste belongs to the Central list of OBCs and they fall under the non-creamy layer.
5 ।NBEMS has no role in counselling for admission to the Masters (M.Pharma) program. Candidates must apply separately to the desired GPAT-2024 Participating institutions with the GPAT Score 2024. Thereafter, each Participating Institute will release its respective cut-off GPAT Scores which a candidate should meet to qualify for admission to that particular Institution.
6 Candidates are advised to read the details of the admission process of each Participating Institute of GPAT-2024 on their respective websites. The participating Institutions of GPAT-2024 are the Institutions which will be accepting the GPAT Scores.
7 Admission to PG courses are undertaken by the State Government/ State admission committee. NBEMS has no role whatsoever in the conduct of counselling for admission to M. Pharm/ PhD courses utilising GPAT scores.
