Maha CET Cell bars 220 students from medical admissions over application discrepancies
Maharashtra: The Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell has recently barred a total of 220 students from the ongoing and further rounds of medical admissions in the state for the 2025-26 academic year after they were found to have either uploaded incorrect documents or failed to submit any at all.
The move comes on the day the merit list for the third round of the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) for MBBS and BDS admissions was scheduled to be released. According to a notice released by the CET Cell on Thursday, the names of these 220 candidates will be excluded from the merit list.
In this regard, a press release was also issued by the CET Cell. Hence, according to the Indian Express media news report, the press release stated that during the third round of document verification, 171 new applicants were found to have uploaded incorrect or invalid documents. After receiving complaints, the CET Cell examined records and confirmed that 170 of these students had submitted incorrect information. Notices were issued to all of them to re-upload their original and authentic documents, but only one student complied.
The press release further stated that similarly, 108 students had not uploaded any documents. Despite being given another chance, only 58 students corrected their documents. The remaining 50 did not respond, resulting in their disqualification.
Earlier this month, the CET Cell issued notices to as many as 152 students for allegedly submitting false information and documents, which had raised concerns about seat-blocking, hinting at manipulation of the system by admission agents.
Meanwhile, the third round of admissions will proceed as scheduled, with selected candidates required to report to their respective colleges between October 31 and November 4. As per the process, candidates submitted fresh applications for the third round.
