The college has stated that its Diploma seats were already surrendered and converted into MD Radiodiagnosis seats.
The institution has further clarified that despite notifying the National Medical Commission (NMC) and requesting the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) to remove the discontinued Diploma seats from the system, the seats continued to appear on the MCC portal and were allotted to candidates. With the DMRD seats officially exhausted and only MD seats available, the college has informed that admissions to the wrongly allotted Diploma seats cannot be granted.
The issue was raised by a doctor, Dr Farooque who was allotted a seat in PG Diploma in Radiodiagnosis at Maharani Laxmi Bai Medical College, Jhansi. It was revealed that the PG medical seat that he chose and was allotted to him by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) during the first round of counselling does not exist.
The doctor was informed by the college that it did not have any seats in the Diploma in Radiodiagnosis, and the existing Diploma seats have been converted into MD seats in Radiodiagnosis. When he talked to the medical college officials, he was informed that the MCC had already been informed about this.
According to the college, it has 5 seats in MD Radiodiagnosis, but MCC has allotted 3 MD and 2 Diploma seats. Following this, the concerned doctor also went to the MCC office. seeking a solution.
Meanwhile, due to the allotment mishap, candidates who scored lower ranks than the medico have been allotted to other Diploma Radio seats in Round 1. Unsure what to do next, Dr. Farooque told Medical Dialogues that he is now considering taking the matter to the Court.
What did the College say?
Writing to Dr. Farooquee, the college informed that through the National Medical Commission's letter, 03 seats of MD Radio-Diagnosis have been increased in Maharani Laxmi Bai Medical College Jhansi, which has been increased from 02 to 05. At the time of application, MD Radio-Diagnosis seats were requested by surrendering the DMRD seats in the Essentiality Certificate to NMC. Accordingly, DMRD seats have been exhausted.
The college informed that after these Diploma seats were exhausted, a request was made to remove those two seats from the counselling. However, even after updating the seats on the MCC portal, the DMRD seats are still appearing in the counselling process, the college informed.
It further added that a Correspondence has been made to the MCC regarding the cancellation of the DMRD seat allocation. Therefore, it would not be possible to grant admission to the concerned Diploma seats.
A similar issue is being faced by another candidate, who was allotted the other Diploma in Radiodiagnosis seat at MLB Jhansi. In a letter addressed to the concerned student, the college has confirmed that admission to the said course cannot be granted.
