Minority Rank List For Tamil Nadu MBBS Admissions Released
Tamil Nadu: The Director of Medical Education has released the religious minority rank list for undergraduate medical course admission to 3 Christian minority self-financing medical colleges.
The colleges include –
1. Christian Medical College
2. Madha Medical College
3. Panimalar Medical College
Candidates can check the state selection committee website for recent updates and notifications.
DME has announced that admissions to 35%-50% of seats the candidate's surrender will be based on NEET scores and 69% reservation. For the remaining 50%-65% of seats in these minority institutions, candidates from the respective minority rank list will be admitted 1st before accommodating candidates from the common merit pool.
DME took this decision because they found that some colleges never took candidates from the minority pool for many years, while others predetermine the number of minority candidates they can take.
There are 5 Telugu minority institutions, 1 Malayalam minority institution, and 3 Christian minority institutions in Tamil Nadu. In 2020-21, only 5 colleges surrendered seats to the state for admission through merit. Until now, 85% of the seats were being filled by the selection committee based on the minority rank list prepared by the college. For 2021 admissions, a rank list for 70% of the candidates will be drawn from the Christian minority list prepared by the Tamil Nadu Government.
Fees for 50% of the seats in private medical colleges and deemed universities should be at par with government medical colleges, the State Government has announced.
