New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released an important advisory for NEET 2026 candidates regarding the dress code and permissible items at examination centres.

As per the notice, all candidates are advised to strictly follow the prescribed guidelines to ensure smooth entry and conduct of the examination. The NTA has allowed candidates to carry transparent water bottles inside the examination centre.

Regarding dress code, candidates are encouraged to wear light clothing to facilitate proper frisking. However, those who wish to wear full sleeves or woollens will be permitted, provided they report to the examination centre well in advance to allow sufficient time for security checks.

The advisory also mentions that candidates may wear articles or objects of faith, but they must report early at the centre for thorough frisking procedures. In terms of footwear, slippers and low-heeled footwear are recommended for ease of checking.

The NTA has urged all candidates to adhere to these instructions and cooperate with the examination staff to ensure a hassle-free examination process. For any clarifications, candidates can contact the NTA helpline or reach out via the official email ID provided in the notice.

All candidates appearing for the examination are advised to note the following instructions:
  • All candidates can carry transparent water bottles.
  • Candidates are allowed to wear articles or objects of faith, subject to reporting at the centre well in advance to enable frisking.
  • While light clothing is preferred, candidates are allowed to wear full sleeves or woollens if they feel the need for it, subject to reporting to the centre well in advance to enable frisking.
  • Slippers and low heels are the preferred footwear.

With NEET UG 2026 just around the corner, the advisory aims to streamline entry procedures and minimise delays at examination centres across the country.

The exam body, the National Testing Agency (NTA), will be conducting the NEET UG 2026 on May 03, 2026 (Sunday), from O2:00 PM to 05:00 PM (Indian Standard Time). This examination will be conducted in Pen & Paper mode (offline) across various centres in India and abroad.

According to the NEET UG 2026 official information bulletin, the candidates will be subjected to extensive and compulsory frisking before entering the Examination Centre with the help of highly sensitive metal detectors. They may also undergo various other identity verification checks, such as Biometric Authentication, Face Authentication, videography etc.
